Watched Barbed Wire Massacre - that was the match that was "too violent for TV"? I can think of multiple Abyss matches off the top of my head that were more violent, and it's not even in the same league as the Hell of War match. the best bit was the guy who came out in all white then didn't bleed a drop all match

Last thing you want is that stuff to rip free when you're freefalling. This is just dumb stuff from two teams of people who will go harder for better pay. It's only expensive if you actually pay your bills. As with most big money losers the only people making money out of a burning failure are the people who already have massive amounts of money taking advantage of the wreckage. Wrestlers who already made it, PPV broadcasters and the buildings they run in. Everyone else is dependant on a paycheck.

Benne posted:9:55 and the main event guys are just now making their entrances. Did we really need to see that year-old replay of a Grand Title match featuring Aron loving Rex, who left the company like 10 months ago? lmao I tuned in halfway through and assumed he came back during the tapings. I got worked! Last week they replayed the James Storm vs Kurt Angle title match, complete with the Beer Money segment before and Fourtune celebration. 7 of the 7 people shown on-screen are no longer with the company.

It's easier for me to believe TNA filmed something for Impact that their TV outlet would not allow them to show.

oatgan posted:perhaps it was not truly too violent for tv but merely a swing at getting eyeball on their twitch channel Reports were that it was going to be on Konnan's Twitch channel, which sounded very much like a last-minute "well we've already shot this, might as well try to get some viewers out of it" decision. Even if it was on their own dedicated channel using "most violent match ever" to promote a relatively unviolent match is the kind of bait-and-switch that isn't going to win you repeat viewers.

So is anyone counter-programming TNA's stuff on Twitch? I might do Fire Pro streams when their PPVs happen and see if I can't get more eyeballs.

I'm pretty sure you could stream yourself pedalling a Big Wheel around your living room for an hour and get more viewers than TNA.

Been awhile since this was postedAron Rex posted:Impact Wrestling's management has done what a few people were scared to do -- give me a microphone on live TV. Now I am not going to stand out here and talk about glass ceilings and brass rings and any other kind of cliche. I am going to do what I always have done and that is come out here and tell the truth. I am going to speak with full disclosure and for those that used to employ me -- don't worry, because this is not about you. This is about something near and dear to my heart, something that I've always put first and foremost in my career: the paying customer, the supporter of professional wrestling, the fans. Over the course of the past five years, me having this philosophy, some people have labeled me too entertaining to receive opportunities to compete for world titles. But remember this, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, no matter what any majority shareholder, CEO, or authority figure may want you to believe, anyone who has ever set foot in any ring has always worked directly for all of you.

there's a lot of things about TNA that defy logic, but I still fundamentally don't understand what the gently caress happened with the Canada situation like, they're still owned by Anthem, right? which is why they wanted to move to Canada? but then didn't get a venue so they just... went back to Orlando?

As far as I know they're still making a run at the Canada thing but the big problem is that their taping schedule and budget demands that they need several consecutive nights at the same venue for a fee they can afford, in a place where they will draw some kind of crowd, which few places can fulfill other than a dedicated space like the Impact Zone in Orlando.
