Yeah, but they only give 2, vs the 7 from reinforcements.

Because there's no green tablet? Orange is used for the offsite lab which is pretty out of the way, purple is used in a bunch of places (generally 1 or 2 in each story location and 1 in each sanctuary), I believe blue is used for the containment facility. Sounds like you hit a bug.

So do enemies actually die now that the game's out or do they still just do a placeholder-looking float in one direction while repeating their pain animation every two seconds

I got to the part with the sunbeam coming down to rescue you, plus the ominous facility sounds, which I know contains some sort of weapon from the data banks I found inside.

Shut up they will fix that in three months-oh wait that's what they told me in June.

But seriously, I honestly expected them to have fixed that poo poo my now :sigh: Instead I'm seeing bug reports about floater island not even rendering. Reinstalling their game still resulting in no objects from resources to coral spawning in the safe shallows, etc.

This game would be 11 out of 10 if not for the bizarre lack of polish causing whiplash from 'This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" to "How is this possible?"

I had almost the exact same experience as you playing the release version. When you get the scanner room hud the scanner room becomes an incredible piece of equipment. I feel like building a scanner room in every large zone (grand reef, koosh, mountains maybe) to identify and farm the hell out of resources.

I reinstalled this again now, played it over a year ago before some major updates, never built the Cyclops etc. The alien stuff is pretty drat cool.

Haven't experienced any glitches so far, but then again I haven't built any vehicles yet. The radio messages are a good way to direct you but technical progression feels a bit weird. Like I've found the bioreactor but not the blueprint for the seaglide, I have all the parts for the seamoth and the blueprint but can't construct it.

I can build the scanner room, I think that can scan for wrecks as well? Does it only work in the zone you build it or is it a radius like the description says?

The seaglide parts are scattered all over and around the shallows, i probably found like 20 parts by now.

I accidentally beached my Seamoth on the island. Well that's a bit silly, but maybe I can get the propulsion cannon and knock it back into the water. Oh wait, I walked away from it and came back and now it seems to have sunk underground?

I mean it's not the hardest vehicle to rebuild but now I have to seaglide all the way back to my vehicle fabricator. It's a dumb way to lose a vehicle.

I got the fragment at the first lifepod but after that I've had no luck. I guess I have to scour the shallows more extensively. I thought it was weird because the shallows are not very big and I keep running into seamoth and scanner room fragments just outside.

The brine pools shouldn't kill you right away. Just bring 3-4 first aid kits and hop into the Prawn, use the kits until it wears off.

Also its pretty funny but I unlocked so much stuff at the first wreck i stumbled across:

Laser cutter
seaglide
seamoth
mobile vehicle bay
stasis cannon
battery charger
bioreactor
modification station
A big pile of furniture and lights
Would have gotten grav sphere if i didnt already have it from the first lifepod i visited

I am also one piece short of a prawn now because of it because it was full of those too, i suspect it actually had enough for the whole prawn but i got tired of looking

It was actually really fun finding such a huge pile of loot right at the beginning of the game, and it was pretty challenging to loot it all because it involved deep dives into the wreck, repairing stuff, looking through the dark, finding hidden tunnels... very cool.

Apparently the consoles are broken though, one prompted me to press a to download data but nothing actually happened as a result

Data consoles can have blueprints for things you already have, in which case you get a couple titanium instead.

Stalker teeth used to be irritating to find - the scanner room completely solves that issue!

One question for you all - how do you all get down to the Lost River these days? I used to take the Deep Grand Reef with my Cyclops. I'm thinking I could still use this route but only with the Prawn.

I'm looking to build a base in the area with the best access to the Lost River (for scavenging materials) and then perhaps one in the Lost River.

So I guess I have two questions:

1) What route do you most commonly use to get to the Lost River; and

2) Where do you build your base in the Lost River?

Admiral Joeslop
Jul 8, 2010

I've forgotten how many entrances to the LR exist but I know there are at least a couple places down there with thermal vents a plenty. Prime places to build a base.

1. I go by proximity mostly and then by whether I care about running into ghost leviathans.

Blood Kelp Trench in the southern part of the map is nice for completely avoiding leviathans but you might struggle to get a Cyclops through there, I don't know for sure since I don't build it.

Mountains entrance is the most navigable by far but you have to deal with a juvenile ghost leviathan every time you go through.

Northern Blood Kelp and Grand Reef are maybe in the middle in terms of accessibility (though someone posted recently about their Cyclops getting stuck coming out through the Northern Blood Kelp path) and there are some ghosts in the caves you're going through but it's not too hard to skirt around them.

2. Around the big ghost tree is a solid place to build. There aren't any hostile creatures and it looks nice. If you take the Prawn down into the brine you'll find a bunch of useful resource deposits. Lost River in general is good for resources so you're fine anywhere that isn't directly under a ghost leviathan.

1. The blood kelp path is probably going to get you roughed up or stuck in a Cyclops. Not worth the effort when there's enough cave features to Spiderman your way through in a Prawn.

2. The blue brine is harmless, unlike the green, so that's also nice.
