Shangela is going to be one to watch this time around. Her makeup was gorgeous. And now she can dance. The only way I see her losing early is if they make her do filth or horror drag. She got house of Edwards style for days.

I'm quite impressed with how much she's grown as a performer. I'm not sure I'd say she deserves to win All Stars (honestly I'm not sure any of this crop really do), but I think she'll stick around for a while and redeem her legacy significantly.

Reddit has literally cooked up a conspiracy theory about this season: Bebe is a MOLE! It's all part of the Handmaid's Tale theme. Winners can't take place in All Stars so clearly she's there to dish to Ru about the way the girls behave backstage and will coast to top 4, when Ru will take her aside and ask Bebe to eliminate one of the girls so there is a top two! This, despite Ru never ceding an inch of power, not actually needing anyone to dish about backstage antics as... cameras, and the extreme unlikeliness of any of that whole scheme happening. I like reddit for the spoilers but when they get obsessed, they get obsessed.

The Katya one was pretty good, and so was the one with Jenifer Lewis (which had a cute Shangela story too iirc). I don't listen regularly though. It's a lot of Rupaul doing his guru shtick, Michelle oversharing about her kids' personal lives, and both of them whining about Kids These Days.

Yeah. I remember Michelle being on a really annoying health kick as well that was frustrating. I should probably give the Katya episode a listen but other than that, it wasn't really for me. That clip of Michelle telling Chichi that not being able to afford expensive clothes is not an excuse is really obnoxious as well. I get where she was coming from but that sentiment is honestly classist af. Drag is extremely expensive and if you can't afford amazing human hair wigs or whatever it's gonna look like a downgrade that no amount of zhuzhing will really help. I love Michelle but she has huge blinders on about some aspects of drag.

I didn't know this was happening already!  This cast is really eclectic; I'm rooting for Ben and Trixie but I'm also excited to see how Bebe performs. Milk is gonna bitch of the season looks like, I remember Adore mentioning in an interview that Milk was kinda arrogant and patronizing on her season. Maybe they just took of the filter this time around. Also I don't mind Thorgy but can she go next please

I love Trixie outside of Drag Race but don't get the idea that she's just going to win. She was pretty weak her season and I feel a lot of her strengths that showed up after the show may not translate to the format still. I don't think there's an Alaska/Chad this season and am glad of it.

This is putting the cart way before the horse, but I'm more prepared for Bendela to get set up for greatness only to crumble in the face of a harsh critique late in the game a la Alaska last all-stars. I have exactly zero proof of this, but her "I'm gonna win through kindness!" combined with her sweep of the first episode would be a grat start to a fall-from-grace narrative. I think this is gonna be a fun season.

Trixie could be a lock for final four, but i don't think she's getting a clear winner's edit yet. so far it just seems like she's the season narrator - which i guess worked gangbusters for Bianca in her season, but maybe not so well for Alaska in her first. also re: pops and Trixie's general ubiquity, the Trixie and Katya vice show is reallllllly popular. i work with people who know those two and love them, who haven't watched an episode of Drag Race. i think in some ways they are more recognisable and in the general public eye than most of the other queens from drag race. Since those Funkopops are horrible indistinct humonculi, I figured Trixie got one because her cheek and eye makeup are pretty distinctive, aside from riding the wave of her internet fame and viceland show. Sometimes I see those things and wonder who the Hell it’s supposed to be.

There’s slightly more content than a year ago, and I like a few of their shows like Desus and Mero and Hate Thy Neighbor, but Action Bronson has two goddamn shows, and I think he just gets high as poo poo and stuffs his big greasy maw in both. Though one episode his guests were Emeril and Big Freedia, and I had to explain the bounce/sissybounce genre for a good fifteen minutes to my bf.
