Okay dog thread, I have a (not actual) problem. I want to identify a dog behavior in Zipper, but I cannot seem to articulate it at all in a form that would tell me what it is termed. Here goes my best try (because I haven’t been lucky enough to record the behavior): When I come home and Zipper hasn’t seen me for a few hours, her first reaction will be to “headbang like a woodpecker” with her butt in the air and her paws out-stretched. What the hell is that called? We’re calling it the “Papa’s Home” dance right now, but much like what we (my family) termed “dog-skin-rugging” to have a more commonly accepted term “Sploot,” I wonder if there’s a word for that.

We clip her harness in, yeah. It’s a normal harness and we clip it to the lap belts, so she gets the benefits of pretensioners and impact reduction devices in the seatbelts.
