I vaguely remember a story about Christina Ricci sending nude photos to some director. I'm also now wondering if that was a smear campaign to make her look 'unstable' and justify working with her less. I mean, her high profile work rate has tapered of dramatically. I'm more surprised that there's someone out there who thinks 'pivdog' is a good nickname.

I mean, I thought I was pretty jaded when it came to the dark side of Hollywood, but what I guess I didn’t appreciate pre-Weinstein was how blatant it was. I foolishly believed that the sex-chuds were able to operate for so long because they stuck to the dark. But then read insane poo poo like Jeff Wells telling James Mangold “hey, I didn’t like your movie, but howsabout you slide me dem nudes,” and it’s just like, oh no, this kind of fuckery was on show in the goddamn lobby

Ricci doesn't seem like the type to do that, if for no other reason than she's been acting since she was a kid and already had a career, even if it did have its ups and downs. The whole Quid Pro Quo/Casting Couch thing Ian McKellan referenced was more about the industry standard of new actors, who are just getting started in the business, offering directors sexual favors for parts.

It wouldn't surprise me if the sending nudes was something her dad suggested since her dad was super-involved in her career to the point of costing her work by being too overbearing, and apparently was also a bit of a creep himself.

Like I'm open to the idea that they might be sexual to a foot fetishist but without some context that I recognize as sexual I don't see how we tell the difference between sexual feet and just feet. I suppose it's like nude images of minors -- they aren't always child pornography -- for example, the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind -- but if you were to have a collection of otherwise non-sexual images, with no common thread between them other than containing nude children, it's loving gross and weird. Or the weirdos on reddit who were collecting images of teenagers that were meant to be non-sexual, but were clearly collected for sexual reasons. Asking kids to write things on their feet and send pictures is way past the line for "creepy" even if it's not technically a crime.

Exactly. I remember the story really clearly though. It came out when I used to read 'WWTDD.com' because I was young and thought that was a good thing to do. It just strikes me, in retrospect, as exactly the sort of story that paints an actress as 'eccentric' and justifies not working with her.

As far as I know Jared Leto's creepiness was contained to when he was touring with his band, and very few people want to start the conversation that begins "Bowie hosed teenagers and knew they were teenagers" and at some point has to contend with "if a person has a fake ID and is at a 21+ concert drinking alcohol, should the musician be expected to know their ID is fake?" The stuff coming out in Hollywood, from Weinstein to Ansari, is all much less ambiguously wrong.
