every so often they hit gold with an oddball hipster-Louie-Theroux documentary but aside from that, i rarely tune in

Speaking of Peppermint, she's going to be acting in a new Broadway-bound musical that is apparently an Elizabethan farce featuring the music of the Go-Gos.

I saw Head over Heels when it was at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It was one of the best theater experiences of my life, and I was already impatiently waiting for it to come to to Broadway. Peppermint being cast just makes it all the more awesome.

really happy to see Trixie is cramming more zingers in than me at kfc. overall, really good assigned divas for everyone for the challenge. good to see chi chi call out Milk (who surely is playing up the bitchy egomaniac for the camers, right? ...please?) anywho based on this it looks like thorgy is a surefire bottom 2, or at least will gripe her way all the way to the final second.

I think she saw once Shangela did that jump rope, that she wasn't going to win, so she did a comedic reaction to Shangela's lip sync.

I love Thorgy, and she made it very difficult to like her tonight.

But Milk's Celine was terrible and I don't understand how she was safe instead of in the bottom.

what a humorous anecdote.
"How do you stand out performing as Stevie Nicks?" I dunno, Stevie Nicks did it so it MUST be possible.

Kennedy's eyes be looking in different time zones with those contacts in. I can't tell if they do that normally or if it's just the contact sitting wrong but it's just so jarring with that white.

Milk literally crying over safe was. It was like Alaska but not justified. Alaska at least that was the first time she'd ever been in the bottom after nearly 2 seasons. And then Milk literally just "i want someone to compliment me because im great" nah.

I feel like "pulls a jump rope out of her wig" is going to go down as one of the most underrated reveals in Drag Race history. Ben threw that in the second half, the sudden downswing in energy was super obvious.

Dear Prudence
Sep 3, 2012

Oh Jesus this episode.

Thorgy is her own worst enemy. I did feel a teeny but bad for her when Shangela sent her home because I think she really thought her and Shangela had an alliance and was safe.

Kennedy did look like Janet, to me. I agree about the lip-sync and the moves not being crisp like Ms Nasty, but like Todrick said, he gave her a lot and he made it complicated. I don't know how much time they get to rehearse but if it's just a day, that's tough.

Oh my god shut up Milk. Just shh. Shhhhh. Stop. So completely full if herself. Honey, you looked nothing like Celine and yeah, I saw you in all those numbers and you looked a mess. Definitely not acting like Celine or even a generic Diva. Just this prancing, tall, legs akimbo mess.

Aja looked beautiful in her Ru-demption look. Just like the fire princess she wanted to be. I thought I was so brave of her to admit that that was when she felt her worst and it inspired her to be better. Of all of them, I think she had the most true redemption.

The LSFYL was great. I think either Ben knew he couldn't win against Shangela or he didn't want to win. If we take his crying about the last choice at face value, he wouldn't want to make that choice again so soon. I like to think he knew he couldn't win, but I love that he still got up there and entertained. I laughed pretty hard at the copy cat routine.

I had no idea Trixie was so tall. More of her to love. She looked great in that jumpsuit. I love her so much.

I love the point when been decided to not win the lip sync by trying to keep up with whatever Shangela was doing in a comedic way. And if there's any question about if she did it on purpose or not she gave a quick slide look to Shangela as she walked to the back of the stage that was kind of like yeah bitch you get to make this decision.

Very much looking forward to milk going home next week

yeah as much as Shangela rocked the stage, Ben's hammed out "too-old-for-this-poo poo" shtick was really great and entertaining. loads of fun

trixie had the line of the night for me: "lotta emotion for safe." haven't been a big thorgy fan at all, but this really made it feel like she was the wrong choice for bottom 3. milk's celine dion was awful

Holy Moly! DARKSEID IS!

I only caught the runway part of the episode but caught on quick. That said I had no idea who Thorgy was meant to be until someone mentioned it. I agreed with the critiques on Kennedy’s Janet Jackson, but felt her RuDemption look was far more high effort/concept compared to Milk’s safe pretty (and this is coming from someone who thought Kennedy’s original look was fun to begin with). Kennedy was still serving Kennedy, while Milk seemed to think in order to win she had to erase Milk completely instead of presenting a glam look to her drag.

I appreciated Aja from the beginning so I’m very happy to see her skill progression (much like Shangela, who was amazing). Put it this way: Aja is the one doing the fantasy league commercials. Even if she doesn’t go all the way she clearly has a place at WoW.

The Shangela vs Ben lip synch was a load of fun. Jump! *Ben barely manages three inches off the ground, bless*

Shhh... don't wake up the sleeping lion :3:

I thought Aja did pretty well in the challenge! She was engaging and fun to watch, and by the judges' reaction shots I thought she would make top 3 this time too. But I can't really fault this top 3 either.

Aja's rudemption outfit was gorg. I love Kennedy's spin on the good old meme too :allears:

Milk please go home next.

Really not a fan of these designated character/choreography challenges. Thorgy could've done better with her characterisation for sure, but if those were the lines and choreography she was given then it's like a Katya and Diana situation all over again. And it's pretty dickish to show Thorgy pointing that out and have her seem paranoid for it. But whatever, I'm not sad to see her go either way.

Also they totally reused the same outro from the S9 Kardashian musical for the vh1 challenge which was weirdly lazy. Granted I probably wouldn't have noticed if the kardashian song hadn't been such an earworm for me, but still.

Aja looked so good as her revamped princess! :neckbeard: Shangela's hamsterball was great. The return of Kennedy's Long Night of Hooking look was a cool surprise but kinda doomed to be underwhelming. Girl should've just picked a new death.

Uh! Double up Uh! Uh!
I thought Thorgy's Stevie was pretty great, but her runway was terrible. She really needs to lose those dreds so she doesn't have to wear hideous wigs and hats to hide her locks.

Milk was serving some kind of kabuki Barbra Streisand and I have no idea why she was safe.

I love Trixie and Ben, but Shangela will probably round out the top 3. I'd be happy with any of them winning.

Dear Prudence
Sep 3, 2012

Milk's wig for her runway looked weird. It wasn't glamorous and it seemed pushed back to far. Reminded me of Robbie Turner's wig during the retro challenge, except shorter.

Trixie said it best - Milk did generic glam instead of a glam of the Milk we love. And Celine was awful.

garthoneeye
Feb 18, 2013

I agree that Thorgy was given a harder diva in the sense that she wasn’t given inherently funny material like Shangela and Ben were. However, the real difference between Herstory and Divas was that, in Herstory everyone basically succeeded which means weaker characters make you stand out for not doing as much. In Divas, a couple people really dropped the ball and if Thorgy could have got out of her head she could have easily been safe, because weaker characters have less opportunities to gently caress up if you get the basics down.
