Prospect wise that's perhaps better than what the Devils turned it around with. Just need Benning to trade for a Hall, Schneider, and Palmieri.

Not too concerned about it.

That and the vesey hit were truly :wtf:. Then Mac throwing a Nashville player into their bench and Zucc throwing a Dman on rinne both entirely out of the play. Refs felt bad or were in playoff mode the whole night.

Bruce Cassidy must be the new Mike Babcock because he has the ragtag collection of no-name prospects and castoffs in the Bruins' bottom 6 forechecking like they're on Team Canada.

Doesnt that just lead to multiple early exits from the playoffs and the constant promotion up the ranks of whoever is Abdelkader in Boston?

I know dude, he had a killer game and dare I say he has looked pretty good. I don't see him having a high offensive ceiling but if he develops into a nice 3C then I'll take it.

I hope they keep him there when MoJo comes back and actually I think Johansson could do OK with Boyle/Stafford (or Boyle/Gibbons eventually).

Hall played 25 minutes tonight with the Devils running 11 forwards. He pretty much played 1st/4th line the whole game (Palmieri got a few shifts with Boyle/Stafford but that was about it). That's gotta be the most minutes by any Devils forward since Kovalchuk in a regulation game.

Mueller looks like a NHL d-man. I'm not sure where he fits long term because he's not going to play over Moore/Greene/Butcher on the left side but it's nice to have him. He's better than Santini IMO although that's not saying a whole lot. I'm not a huge fan of 7d/11f but I guess their thinking is that it allows them give Butcher a lot of easy assignments/zone starts and also Jimmy Hayes loving sucks. I hope they give Quenneville a game or two, I don't think he has a lot left to do in the AHL and it's worth seeing if he can replace some of the scoring depth they lost when they traded Henrique.

eXXon posted:

I feel like every time I get off the Pavel Zacha should die train he stabs me in the back. I already went through this with Larsson and I don't think we can trade him for EK.

I can't remember a time the system has been this promising. Lacking in net, though.

theyre going to have a hard time with jfk, nash, kuraly because nash is naturally going to be getting a much better deal than the 900k one he was on. kuraly deserves to stay and will, his deals up too, but him you can likely get for a couple years at under a million because hes been haunted by a tragic sh% since he was 18 at miami. jfk is an nhl player rn, i see him on a regular basis and talk to people around that team daily. so do you pay nash, or let him go and slot jfk in at 3c right away or sign nash to what will prob be 3+ years at around 3m per

For the same reason as Matt Martin played on Auston Matthews' wing a few times, and to a lesser extent Tom "gently caress you Tom Wilson" Wilson ran shotgun with Ovie.

I’m not a big Tom Wilson fan but he actually meshes with Ovechkin (the WOWY confirms this) and he has a respectable 21 points so far this season. He’s also their third best possession player and legit one of their best defensive forwards.

He’s still dirty but he’s coming around with his hockey skills this season.

Carter Rawney isn't really played in 5v5 situations so they just toss Sid or Geno between whatever is on the 4th line right now. Unfortunately, the Pens went 3 games without Reaves in the lineup and the 4th line all of a sudden stopped getting caved in quite so much, but now Sheary and Hornquist are out soooooo back in he goes :(

I didn’t look at the line combos in depth, but I noticed Reaves went out with Sid and Simon a lot, which made t seem more like a promo to 1L rather than Sid doubling on 4L.

Regardless, the pens would be better off bringing up some more skilled depth from WBS than slotting Reaves in anywhere. I do wonder how much pressure comes from JR to play Reaves, just seems so out of keeping with Sullivan’s style

Pornographic Memory
Dec 17, 2008
Can't ignore pressure from the players either, Reaves wants to play and I'm sure other guys on the team think Reaves keeps them safer and want him there too, even if he doesn't actually do anything. Sullivan has to keep them happy to a degree even if he has final say in who plays night to night and how much.

I do think Sullivan by and large would prefer not to play him though, he seems like a pretty forward thinking coach and if he's playing a guy like 5 minutes a night he has to be doing that because he knows he sucks.
