Stanley over Niku? What the gently caress

Also Phillipe Myers over Niku on the main list. They're the same age playing in the same league. Niku is third in D scoring. Myers is nowhere near the top 20. Why is Myers ranked higher? Does he have intangibles?

they also have andersson above chytil which makes no sense. i think craig button is usually a decent enough talent evaluator but the list is bad

He became good at scoring goals at 30 years old though which is always risky.

not really risky as a rental for a team that thinks a versatile, fast player takes them over the hump. late firsts aren't worth that much.

He had some other pretty decent years with the Isles and they were mostly a bad team. I'd be cool with Poile going after him and watching him chase down PK lob passes for breakaways.

I checked Pronman, and he had Chytil 11th and ranked Andersson as an Honorable Mention (the list only went to 50 and didn't include anyone in the NHL at the time he was writing).

I wonder if Button would have ranked Dermott or Kapanen over Liljegren.

Grabner had some health issues IIRC that neutered his speed until he fully recovered, and without his speed he's not that dangerous.

If you want a guy who can PK, is the fastest player on the ice nearly all the time, and can pot some goals to go along with your depth plus make teams have to respect that breakaway speed, then he's a good pickup. I think the price will depend on how many teams are bidding.

I really really really want to see a race of McDavid, Grabner, and Kreider from goal line to goal line. I think the second you put any sort of turning/agility into it McDavid walks away with it, but in a straight line sprint I'd be really interested.

nah when he sprints all out he's frighteningly fast. He doesn't do it with the puck though and isn't a "on the gas all the time" guy. But occasionally he'll turn it on to beat out an icing or race to a puck and it's insane a guy as big as he is can move that fast.
