Jamwad Hilder posted:Yeah, in today's NHL 50ish points is solidly top-6, maybe even first line depending on the roster. And if they're a good PK guy, which isn't unheard of for top 6 guys (I say this to a Boston fan, lol), even better. Is Hischier defensively responsible? Rich man's Michael Grabner isn't bad ceiling.

Trotz has the Caps playing some stupid poo poo system that has them giving up a ton of shots, and every time Brooks Orpik hits the ice it's like a loving feeding frenzy for the other team. If it weren't for Ovechkin and Holtby we'd be talking lottery instead of leading the Metro.

They lost some good players but there is no reason they should go from one of the best to one of the worst defensive teams in the league in one season. I wish I was good at identifying Xs and Os because things just look...different. Even good players like Niskanen, Oshie, and Backstrom seem lost this year (on top of Orpik still being garbage).

Hischier is nothing like Grabner at all, really. He has good speed but he doesn't rely on it, and he's not a goal scorer he's a borderline elite playmaker. Defensively he's solid but I don't see him becoming Bergeron or anything, certainly very good there for a 19 year old though. And lumping him in with Patrick is strange, he's definitely separated himself thus far as the clearly better player. The guy he probably reminds me the most of is RNH in his rookie year.

a false posted:lundqvist deserves another vezina there was maybe a stretch in there somewhere throughout his career where the Rangers D protected Lundqvist decently well but for so much of his career he's basically had to make a ton of saves on high percentage shots all season long but no one cares about that kind of stuff Yo how about this Nick Holden to tide you over?

My theory is the Penguins series broke Trotz and now he’s trying to get his team outshot every game because hey, it worked for Pittsburgh!
