Thank you to my internet friends, The Glumslinger and Lockback. What is the rationale behind that rule? If you are trading a player straight up you have his interest in mind versus him being some salary cog in a many-piece trade?

And more importantly: who can answer that question the quickest? GO!

You can package and repackage players back and forth to get around the matching salary rules.

I said before that it's not a buyers market. Everyones up against the cap not necessarily this year but until those contracts from 2016 expire. They want to plan for the next big free agency and keep their draft picks for cheap contracts.

I think this line of thinking is why the deadline is so quiet so far. Lots of people waiting on buyouts. Hopefully someone goes crazy and starts a mass domino fall but we've only got 3 and a half hours left!

Yeah, I think that teams are going to settle for 2nd rounders in most cases. Tyreke for Shane Larkin + whatever to make salaries match and a 2nd rounder is probably all Boston will do, or anyone, for that matter.
