New event info. Highlights - Starts on the 9th. - More new Hoenn Pokemon (including Salamence, Altaria, and Metagross). - Some may be limited, for those three, it says "unique opportunity to catch." - Sounds like all spawns with be Hoenn from the 9th til the 13th. - Rayquaza legendary will overlap the Fail Whale for a few days, be here til March 16th. - New raid bosses, nothing specific. - New poo poo in eggs, nothing specifc. - Six hour lures til the 23rd. - Boxes with raid passes, incubators, and star pieces til the 23rd. - Take AR photos, blah blah who gives a poo poo. I wanted Chanseys, I missed the Valentine's event last year. Wanted double candy too, my Pokebox is full of crap I'm hoarding for the next double candy event.

drat yeah I was hoping to get rid of some low IV legendaries if Valentine's Day event was happening again but I guess not. I also hate them releasing new legendaries with the old ones still in. I know the rationale is "last chance for those who haven't gotten it yet!" but that's hardly the case for anyone regardless if they're in a town with prolific players or in small towns where it's hard for them to organize enough people for a legendary raid. Maybe if it was for EX legendaries then that might make sense to spur people to try to raid more for chances at Mewtwo before it's gone, but as it stands no one is raring to go after Kyogre if Rayquaza is out.

i'm fine with overlapping legendaries, a bunch of the people i raid with kept going after groudon when kyogre dropped in order to hopefully get better ones. that said i doubt any of us will keep going after kyogre once rayquaza drops because fuuuuuuuck kyogre.

Part of that is kyogre, probably, but I think part of that is how many legendaries most people have already. you can only keep trying the same trick to generate interest so many times before it stops working. Kyogre raid fatigue isn't as bad as suicune raid fatigue. Raids basically stopped around here after a few days of suicune.

I'm at 14 Dragon types obtained. I think I might have to wait until, I dunno, Noibat, becomes common to actually make any headway, cause any other Dragon type will probably be rare as poo poo until the end of time.

I have a Gold Dragon Badge, I didn't think they were that rare but apparently not that many people in my local discord do either. Huh. Got my second MewTwo today on the last ball as a Critical Catch. First was 78IV this one is 87IV. I guess I know what I am doing with all my rare candies in the near future.

For anyone gearing up for Rayquaza, someone in my Discord pointed me to a useful site that helps you determine how far you need to power up your Pokemon to tip your attack's move into getting an extra point of damage. Helpful if you have something that shows your Pokemon's attack IV, that is. This way you won't need to drain yourself of unnecessary stardust. Here's the site. In the example below, if you have a perfect (15) attack IV Cloyster with Frost Breath as the fast attack, you can level it up to level 32 to break into 13 points of damage instead of 12. All of this is really useful for Rayquaza since ice types are glass cannons and the quick attack is important. I wouldn't bother measuring charge attacks since you just kind of fire off what few you can before you die against raid bosses.
