Embiid defensive highlight video from this article. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM6HAjfzrQU Most impressive I think is his ability to stay in front of and lock down guards going inside.

This is kind of an amazing little detail about the Rockets offense, and how its actually designed to have way less movement than pretty much every other offense in the league, and instead focused on maximizing spacing:quote:Despite playing at the NBA’s ninth-fastest pace, Rockets players have run fewer miles than any other team this season, per the Second Spectrum data on NBA.com. They also move at the league’s slowest average speed https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/2/13/17005988/houston-rockets-offense-explained

I've seen three second rules get called a lot in pick up and every time everyone makes fun of the guy who calls it It's a weird phenomenon that it happens so much despite such negative reactions to it. The first inverse law of pickup. It's the same mysterious physics that causes a fat guys jumper to be a perfect trajectory every time.

I can't recall the last time I saw it called, but we do get people yelling out "Five! Six! Seven!" etc if you park in the lane

It's not called in pickup, but if you play rec league with refs in my experience they freaking love calling it. Won't call getting your arm hammered in the post or some group of guys trying to run the full-court press by constantly reaching in, but god forbid you are already moving outside of the paint when their internal clocks hit 3.0000001 seconds.

Maybe this is what lead to the rise of the stretch 4 (and 5 in some cases), kids got tired of the refs and decided they'd just never go in the paint to start. This refs vs players thing must go much deeper than we thought.

Every player should wear an ankle monitor that automatically counts down three seconds whenever they enter the paint. KCP's already used to it

Some new reporting Markelle Fultz and his longtime trainer, confidant and family friend, Keith Williams, made significant alterations to his shooting form in the months leading up to the start of the Sixers' season, according to multiple sources who spoke to The Athletic on the condition of anonymity. These changes included an effort to quicken his shot, eliminate the dip in his shooting mechanics and bring his set point over to the right side of his body, according to sources with knowledge of the changes Fultz made over the summer. The early stages of these changes were evident by the time Fultz began working out for teams leading up to the draft last June, according to a source who spoke to The Athletic and was privy to these workouts. The changes became more pronounced by the time Fultz arrived at training camp in September. Fultz and Williams returned to the gym at the conclusion of the Las Vegas Summer League in July, where they continued working to alter the former Washington guard's jumper through the beginning of September, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. When Fultz returned to the team in the middle of September his lack of confidence in his new jump shot was immediately apparent, according to multiple sources. The team's efforts to revert Fultz back to the shooting form he showed at Washington began almost immediately. Sources: Markelle Fultz significantly altered his jump shot over the summer https://theathletic.com/238687/2018/02/13/sources-markelle-fultz-significantly-altered-his-jump-shot-over-the-summer/ Those who spoke to The Athletic indicated these shot alterations were changes Fultz had been working on for quite a bit of time, not something he was forced to make in response to the shoulder soreness and scapular muscle imbalance in the shoulder that would first be revealed months after the initial efforts by Fultz and Williams began. More While the prevailing belief is that the scapular muscle imbalance Fultz was diagnosed with on October 29 has likely played a role in Fultz's struggles to return to form, multiple sources with knowledge of Fultz's offseason workouts described the mechanical changes in his jump shot as significant and intentional, leaving the Sixers' rookie guard unprepared to play at the start of training camp. euphronius fucked around with this message at 20:36 on Feb 13, 2018 |
