I just don’t get why Vince can’t let things be natural. Granted, FCW was a horrid promotion that should be burned to the ground and their naming system was the worst thing in wrestling history (yes, literally worse than everything else  ), but if someone has an easy to remember first and last name, leave it alone.I mean jeez, literally everyone has first and last names and Vince doesnt like that. Think about that. It boggles may mind even though it shouldn’t at this point.

I generally assume Vince's one name kick is because he wants wrestlers to seem like characters on a show, not people with lives outside of the WWE. Even if last names come from the WWE they imply things like family and a heritage, and unless you're a second or third generation wrestler Vince doesn't want that. It's two of Vince's weird fixations: "our competitor is Disney, not the UFC", and the whole thing where the brand is the star, not the wrestlers.

According to the New York Times sports business guy Kevin Draper, the moniker "205er" is going to start being used in lieu of "cruiserweight" to describe those superstars. The old term was never really popular with Vince and company but is being officially nixed on all programming for similar reasons to Crews being dropped
