My experience tells me so but

1)The team is run by possibly the cheapest, shittiest man in all of hockey ownership who is rumoured to be cutting salary and being more hands on than usual
2) He is not a smart man, either
3) Even bad beat guys get it right once in a while, broken clock twice a day, blind squirrel, etc.

I’m still convinced Mrazek could put it together. He had some stellar moments but was wildly inconsistent (while on a team with an AHL defense).

The front office loving hates the guy, though, so he had no future here. Helene St. James has been writing hit pieces about him for awhile.

So the most likely outcome is he wins five games and it costs a 3rd. If he gets them to the ECF then who cares about a 2nd. They have Elliott and Neuvirth signed through next season, so the additional pick isn't likely to happen.

I don't know why Hextall wanted them to retain salary.

Not because he traded Mrazek, but because he gave Justin Abdelkader $Texas and a NTC.

I'm ambivalent. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but I don't think the Flyers are super geared for a run unless they get lucky/extremely hot so I don't know if it's worth it or not.

And this is a problem of his own making because he's so cap-hosed thanks to the following deals:

Jimmy Howard, 5.3 until 2019 (will be 34 years old) with a NTC

Kronwall's deal was 7 years at 4.75 + NTC when he was already 32, which is pretty inexcusable but Kronwall was also without question the team's #1 defenseman after the retirement of Nick Lidstrom that spring.

That year his fellow Defensemen were:

Jonathan Ericsson
Jakub Kindl
Kyle Quincey
Brendan Smith
Brian Lashoff
Ian White
Infant Dan DeKeyser
Whoever The gently caress Kent Huskins Is
Carlo Colaiacovo

So I kinda get it. But this is just a reminder that Ken Holland also was loving worthless in 2012 since he definitely, absolutely, 100% loving knew that Nick Lidstrom was retiring, and that's what he did in response.
