Wasn't there already a gen 1 starter event early on where spawns of bulbasaur, squirtle and charmander were boosted? I get they're going for shinies, but this feels like a repeat.

There was, but I think it was well over a year ago. I think this is something Niantic is trying to figure out: How do you try to give something to new players while also trying to keep the long-term players engaged without making it so you must be a long term player to get all the pokemon? Imagine someone who started playing six months ago. When are they ever getting an Articuno? Now imagine being, uh, probably you and me and most people in this thread: When are we ever going to want another Articuno?

Throwing my vote in that I'd also prefer a community day with all starters, not just bulbasaur, if they had to go that route. I'd rather something more interesting. Community day was fun. I missed out on the first 30 minutes but still ended up catching 138(7 shiny), finally getting my gold dragon badge and having enough time left to log into my boyfriend's account to catch him a shiny. Mine were almost all trash but I already have a poo poo ton of dragonites so oh well. I finally got my first legit ex pass and it's, of course, for a time that's in the middle of a work day(1pm on a Friday,). Luckily my partner has had Fridays off lately but holy gently caress trusting that catch in someone who doesn't raid much and is super casual is stressful.

I may be 0 for 5 on Rayquaza, but I’m 1 for 1 on MewTwo.  Well, for my wife, at least. Still waiting on an EX pass for my account. Which brings up a question: I logged out of my account and went into my wife’s from my phone. I knew she wasn’t playing at the time, but what would happen if I try logging in while she is playing? Error message? Instaban?

It's me, I'm that one guy in the thread who hasn't bothered to catch a single legendary, aside from a single Mewtwo (got lucky with an early EX Raid pass and a big crowd showed up for it). I just don't have time to actively go out and raid. Occasionally I'll hit up a 1* raid if I see one in the wild doing errands or something. I wish there were other ways to get legendaries, but that probably won't happen.

Eh, my gf loves Bulbasaur and I want to get a venasaur at long last, so it'll be neat. With an egg that's 600 xp at minimum per catch, so it should be neat.

Also the next community day is in fact Bulbasaur, with triple xp to go along with it. The special move isn't listed, but I'd reckon it'll be Frenzy Plant. It goes along with Draco Meteor as being a special move tutor attack.

Curious about what June will bring to Pokemon Go. With this next community event, and what legends we have left, it seems like March to May will be kanto starters for community and the reggies for raid battles. That'll only leave Lati@s. They could do June-July, but I'm kinda hoping they do both at once and July sees the start of Gen 4? Community Day I could see Ditto. It couldn't happen, but it'd be fun as heck if they went ham and every ditto came out as a legendary on the map. Otherwise, maybe Larvitar? But i'm probably putting too much faith on Go and we'll get Gen 4 starting at Christmas this year.

ugh between more fuckin pikahats and bulbasaur as the next community 'mon, i am starting to get really discouraged. i mean gently caress man i already got a whole team of 6 level 30 (and above) venusaurs with the best moveset and great ivs that i use to gank omastar raids, the gently caress could i possibly do with more bulbasaurs.

It's the same ones with the same hats as last year. I don't think it is meant to be special, it's just the thing they do for the yearly anniversary. We just had a bunch of events already. I'm fine with a little break.

Yeah I don't get why Wingull and Shroomish are super rare, just let me catch some cool common Pokemon so the usual garbage becomes slightly more interesting for the moment. Also lol at those maps on the official site listing areas by most team catches and the Dratini event being Mystic everywhere but Australia. Way to be subtle, Mystic spoofers.

Bulbasaur is a little rear end in a top hat in terms of catch rate. They didn't do it for Pikachu so they're not gonna this time but they should ease it up a little for this type of event.

They did shinies for the birthday hats. First time they've combined shiny and a stupid hat for pikachu before. The hat's not even a different color. Wasted opportunity. I am gonna drop this gross spraytan sparkly raichu wearing a hat on gyms now, just to be a big eyesore, though.
