It happens a lot now that I think about it. Nic Cage made like 30 garbage tier direct to video films after losing all his money and I guess he still isn't out of debt.

Edit: Does Danielle Radcliff owe money to the mob or something? Because his film output has been pretty poo poo overall since HP.

Cage afaik has a really bad spending/gambling issue or something tho so a lot of that is probably his own fault, tbf.

Foley kind of hosed himself a little. He was earning about 50k a month and agreed to pay 10k in child support but still wasn't paying it and when he lost the NEWSRADIO job he asked for a reduced amount but refused to disclose the income he was actually earning.

He went on tour and called it, appropriately enough 'The Alimony Tour' after he ended up paying about 20 million to his ex-wife after only 16 years of marriage, which is kind of insane to me.

I think that was all before though, he had an insane car and comic book collection and like 9 houses and he lost almost everything. I know the guy who brokered the sale of his comics and Cage was so desperate he didn't even get a quarter of what they could have sold for, he was that cash poor.

It’s another sad example of how actors and actresses are seen as disposable. Frasier has been in the business for a long time, and showed the ability to deliver range from broad comedy to contemplative drama. He anchored a successful action adventure franchise. But at some point he got shuffled in the deck, and his visibility dropped. One of the most grotesque things that has come to light in a post-Weinstein world is just how real the concept of Hollywood Kingmakers is. A small group of people are able to lift careers to superstardom, and just as easily cut the legs out from under them.

I remember reading that Cavill was considered for Bond around the time Casino Royale was made. Someone looked at this 23 year old and thought 'yeah, he could be James bond' and then 8 years later he's Superman. That is an absurd piece of luck. Of course, he's good looking and talented, but they all are.

EDIT: while confirming that, I discovered that Dougray Scott was also considered for Bond and rejected. gently caress, dude missed out on being Bond and Wolverine.

Cavill was rocking poo poo on the Tudors, he was up for pretty much every handsome white guy roll at one point.

And Scott's agent hosed him out of X-Men, he told him to gently caress off X-Men and that the MI2 reshoots were far more important.

Tudors started as a show two years after Cavill was already considered for Bond.

Elijah Wood did the same kind of thing off his LotR success, and Kristen Stewart after Twilight. Don't have to take schlock roles when you're set for life, unless you want to do it for funsies.

It was in the studios interest to keep the whole cast on the relative straight and narrow and avoid the usual child star breakdowns. Recasting any major character would have ruined the whole gimmick.

The only one of the Harry Potter kids that I think had any problems was the one who played Crabbe. He got booted from the last film and had his death scene switched to Goyle because he got arrested for pot possession. After that, he got arrested and jailed again for being caught looting and throwing Molotovs during the London riots. I don't think he ever did any acting outside of Harry Potter.

Everyone else came out well-adjusted and expanding their careers. I think other than Radcliffe, Tom Felton and Emma Watson have the strongest careers out of the main cast. Evanna Lynch actually played Luna in one performance of the last Very Potter Musical.

Radcliffe hasn’t just been doing poo poo since HP ended. Swiss Army Man was good! Now You See Me 2 maybe not so much. But yeah, pretty much all of the Harry Potter kids seem to have turned out relatively ok, although I guess they still have plenty of time to go off the rails. I don’t know what Rupert Grint is up to these days, but I haven’t heard anything negative about him. I guess he’s just enjoying being rich as poo poo.

There was some story about Grint buying an ice cream van, so hopefully that worked out since Domhnall Gleeson locked down 100% of the ginger acting market.

SAM was a great weird indie movie with a great weird performance by Radcliffe, and they shot in the most beautiful forests on Earth (Humboldt County).
