I think the first bit of Leather Teeth might have been better chopped off into it's own intro track, liked it and Hurricane though.

Need to give it a couple more listens.

I listened to it a couple more times today and I like it more than I did yesterday. My complaint that nothing stands out still uh stands though, even though I still think its overall good. I like the vocal tracks.

The title track has legs, but I wasn't too excited by the rest. Hard to compare to the blistering live album though; so good. Too good, in fact.

And if it's another trilogy then there's plenty of space for some return to form.

Leather Teeth is better and more fun than Trilogy. If you disagree your opinion is wrong.

I think that's because it was a short film entry/award winner, and then they got permission to use it as their music video.

I just watched it and yes, that was a good video, but I didn't think it was better than this.

Did they write the music specifically for it? Because in the song itself there's actually that plane noise which I always found strangely coincidental.

If you look at the info under the youtube video, it says:

Original animation officially licensed - "Paths of Hate" (http://platige.com/)

Look it up on vimeo, other bands have used it e.g. https://vimeo.com/31498823

It's all done recording and apparently they're just doing some final production/editing. Should drop in the next few months is my guess.

Thanks to Beyond Synth and his super wanna-be Cassy Cason voice and terrible segments (like junk mail ugh) I found out that Mecha Maiko is apparently the new project of the singer from Dead Astronauts. Just a FYI for any fans of the latter.

My outrun track was put up on NewRetroWave last week! Pretty drat surreal seeing something I made get the Bateman seal of approval(I think it's a fake one, but whatever). Pretty jazzed about it.

Hmm. I just finished listening to that album, and one bit from Commandment sounds a lot like a bit from Le Perv from Carpenter Brut.

The album is pretty decent and it's cool to see the darkwave scene kind of splitting into their own directions, with Perturbator's last album. I actually liked the clean vocal tracks, which is weird for me. Sigil is pretty good.

Gost's Behemoth is the best dark synthwave album so I'm hella excited to listen to Possessor.

Really digging Sigil and Shiloh's Lament on the new Gost. Still need to give the album time to sink in but so far they are the two stand outs. Gost has a really good voice on the vocal tracks.

Possessor fuckin' rules, and I actually didn't realize there was new Gost coming out until I saw them live the other day and didn't recognize half the songs.

The coolest part of the live show is that the set decoration was: a couple of flashing lights, and a skull that was gingerly placed on top of one of the synths.

tO REPORT ON THE SUBJECT,

I've ended up listening to a number of songs in this genre lately thanks to Youtube recommended videos, and I've also been trying to learn the bass guitar over the last half-year or so. Is this a sort of music that could be played on bass guitar/with a conventional band? Maybe with some kind of... I don't really know the words but whatever it is you hook up the guitar to so it sounds different. I get that it's mostly done with synthesizers but I figured since what they're synthesizing is bass lines maybe they can be done on actual bass.

I don't really have people to talk to about instruments and have just been learning from a couple beginner's books so I have no idea about genres yet.

Carpenter Brut plays live with a band, but as far as I know it's only a guitarist, drummer and himself on keyboards, with guest singers.
