why try to force Roman to be "the guy" rather than Rollins? it makes zero sense at this point.

Roman's true finisher is the 'other guys help me powerbomb someone', and the spear and punch are just for when there aren't other guys around.

Part of the issue is he keeps being sold as a power wrestler where his power moves are all meh at best. Roman should be sold more as a striker and probably should use the Rainmaker as his super finisher. According to the Observer Keith Lee seems to be on the WWE radar.

go back in time and have rollins be a face after coming back from injury still dont understand what was gong through vince's head after they do the documentary on rollins recovery and everyone was pumped he returned, huge pops, that was the time to push him as a face, but nope let's have him cut a promo saying he hates his fans

Catching up on the 205 Live tournament, spent most of Andrews/Tozawa wondering why I hadn't seen it in the match rec thread. Then that finish happened and I just went "...oh." Who in the world thought that was a good idea.

Yeah, I don't like Roman because of his lovely character, and honestly I don't like his matches as much as I "should" because they're so boring and predictable. (I don't mean LOL ROMAN WINS, but just SUPERMAN PUNCH!!!) but the moves he actually does look impactful and he's improved a lot at selling and telling a story in the ring. He's definitely better than the Miz, and if the Miz was booked like Roman Reigns it would be the most horrible thing to ever happen

Which is a shite idea because Cena's been doing it for thirteen years and he still can't pull it off half the time. I think what's really funny with the benefit of hindsight is that if they just put it off for a year and kept with Daniel Bryan until he had to retire then Roman Reigns would probably have been accepted as the top babyface by now.

The Miz got Damien Sandow over. He got that dreadful Alex guy over. He really helped put Daniel Bryan over initially too. Echoing what other people said about Roman being average. He's the new HHH (worse than HHH of course) in that he's a 6 pushed as an 11 so looks like a 5

Even more so if they turned him heel during that stint. Like, the "turn him heel" stuff is probably overstated but just take 8 months of the first two Roman megapush years and let the audience hate him like they wanted too. Lean into the smarmy poo poo talker stuff and it'll work back around to getting over organically, like they've done with so many other people over the years. I don't doubt that he could be getting the reactions they want in the role he has now had they handled him out of the gate in almost any other way than what they did. Just amazing, really.

The Miz's gimmick was floundering at that point. Mizdow got so over that it became a full time thing and completely hijacked the Miz's gimmick. When Mizdow was off screen Miz was significantly less over than when he was on screen. So no, Sandow helped get Miz over as weird and backwards as it sounds today. The rest is equally nonsense.
