The implication I always read was that Hope's Peak told Hajime he'd get Ultimate Talent, but not that he'd suffer personality death to get it. He didn't know.

Yeah - with the Reserve Class even existing at all pretty much said most of the staff is extremely unethical, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't consider warning their guinea pigs of the side effect.

I didn't quite tear up but that conversation is definitely immensely moving if you're invested enough to play this far into the game. That said, FPZero or someone else needs to do a simulwatch of DR3 to show how it ruins everything ever.
