Lugia is coming back to replace Rayquaza. I’m cool with occasionally revisiting old legendaries, for those of us who missed out the first time/don’t spend all day with a posse hitting up 30 raids like goons in this thread do.

what the hell why i mean i'm fine with bringing back legendaries for people who missed them (i never got a raikou, for example ) but there are still 5 more gen 3 legendaries we've not had yet

I'm okay with this for 2 reasons: possibly Raikou again (the only worthwhile electric type for raids), giving us a break. It's a nice time to save up on revives and not feel like you're missing out on a new legendary. That said, I would like to hunt for a better Lugia since I only got 2 or so and wasn't as organized as I am now back when it was out. I used to think Lugia was great because the game defaulted to people using it, but that was probably because it was tankier than the birds and was the best legendary at the time. Psychic legendaries are just yawwwwwwn

The news report says Sky attack is newly improved. I guess that means it's getting a buff. Maybe flying will actually mean something in the meta again.

New round of EX raids sent out for the 23rd. Please give me Mew already. EX raids would be more fun if they hid Mew within a Mewtwo raid, like maybe have the same base rate of 2% catch for legendaries except it's for Mew appearing during the catch phase instead of Mewtwo. As a slightly related thought, I wish they made an evasion allows a chance for your Pokemon to dodge without your own input. That would make a more interesting meta and balance Pokemon deemed useless through pure IV stats. Just have the evasion stat be a fixed percentage depending on the specie of Pokemon. 33% no matter what for any Yanmega, and maybe even 90% for Shedinja as a replacement for its gimmick. I was thinking this because I was wondering how they would differentiate Mew from Mewtwo and it would be cool if Mew was even more of a glass cannon than Mewtwo, but had a decent evasion stat since Mew's thing in the Pokemon movie was flying around all whimsically in a bubble dodging Mewtwo's attacks. Honestly it'd be so nice to bring even a slight modicum of usefulness to all the Pokemon that max out their CP in the mid to high 1000s. Why the hell are they giving Lugia Sky Attack and not, y'know, Aeroblast? Well whatever, since I'm rural I won't be getting one anyway. Gotta wait a few more months to see if they'll do something that aren't 5* raids.

Exclusive moves are only for those fun community days. Wait until April 2026 when they unleash unlimited Lugia for you to catch that will have Aeroblast. Niantic is a poor baby company that barely has money to pay their water bills so they cannot animate a new move for Lugia, sorry.

After taking down a full gym, I saw some guy with his 2 kids immediately come over and try to take over the gym I just snagged. Decided to teach those kids a lesson and troll the gym with golden razzberries for the next hour. I'm still keeping the gym in my periphral. Nothing pisses me off more than opportunists who try to knock a person out who's alone mere minutes after that person took down a full gym.

Hey man, kids are p. bad sometimes. They loudly proclaim how they GPS spoof all the time at raids and you can see their older brother/parents try to avert their eyes and stay silent as they talk about knocking out gyms in different cities.

It's technically possible for someone to catch too much (1500 in a 72 hour period) and get soft banned over it. A friend did it during the Halloween event. It's not a big deal if it happens occasionally. Rolls over after an hour. Repeatedly, I don't know. The game has no way to differentiate between the gotcha and the plus, if that's what you mean. I've used mine almost every day since early September, no softbans. If literal children kick me out early, I.. just come back after they're home in bed. They're kids. You already win.

If they do Lugia for a month activity is going to drop off a cliff. In my raid group at least. A few are happy, a few are "meh" and a lot don't care. I'm in the latter group, I'm more interested in doing Absol raids than doing Lugia raids. I have a Lugia that's good enough. For that tiny tiny chance at a shiny.

Attacking a gym with 3+ accounts doesn't take that much resources and gets you tons of gym badge as long as the berries keep coming. Not a bad deal if you're working on the gold badge. Best gyms for this are the ones with crappy weak-to-machamp lineup including some tyranitar and slaking for max badge returns.

My local group is full of people claiming how much they're not interested in Lugia but I'm betting when a 5-star shows at an EX raid site later today you won't be able to tell. We'll see!  now in three weeks, yeah, I expect Lugia raids to be dead.

I was only able to run a few Lugia raids and they all ran on me. I'm happy they brought Lugia back for a bit. Not everyone has been playing the game since launch or even since Lugia was last in eggs. Congrats you have 20 of them already, not everyone does. Sure does suck that you don't have to spend $1000 on raids this month. They're going to have to cycle through old raids eventually for people.
