Stories written following the hero's journey read nothing like actual myths or folklore. Also Campbell's work falls flat because he only looks for similarities, not variations, and he ignored Africa and East Asia, and doesn't have room for Heroines.

a combination of lower weekly audience attendance, big flops by auteurs, and the blockbuster of success of jaws and star wars can be argued to be the death of new hollywood i know you can make the argument that what you originally said is still applicable but imo your post clearly reads more like you saying i have something against the entire American New Wave. And even then what you said is stupid because 1. the context in which I said the thing about Star Wars was about what movie I wish didn't exist. I named Star Wars because I think the film landscape would be interesting in different ways. and 2. its really stupid to speak of cinema all encompassing when the topic is only Hollywood films. but yeah go ahead and tell me what i actually believe
