Prime Minister Luxemburg at a rally in Opal posted:And every Sirtan has a right, yes a right to a roof over their head! A right to three square meals a day! A right to a safe, humane, and fulfilling job! A right to modern healthcare! A right to a quality education! These basics of life are due to ALL Sirtans, not just those fortunate few! It seems almost a self-evident truth of the universe, and yet here we are. Millions upon millions of Sirtans who cannot be assured even the most basic necessities! This needless cruelty is an unnatural of mankind's best instincts. A fundamental alienation brought about by the rigors of the capitalist system.

edit hell to that. "Long have the People suffered, been repressed, and enslaved. No more. We will obtain representation, liberation, equality, and irrevocable ownership of ourselves by any means necessary. Obstacles to these goals will be removed and allies will be remembered. We promise, here and now, to form a coalition government 1st! Any party with a plan to continue to address the unemployment on our beautiful planet! 2nd! Any party willing to seriously work on a Bill of Rights for all of Sirta! And 3rd! Anyone will to do the hard work of enforcing rights and following through with plans to deal with unemployment long term! A recent opinion piece written by FDG chairman Stefan Borisov in the weekly post-revolution political magazine "Hope Watchers" has quickly become a frequent point of discussion across the SCN. In it, Borisov outlines his reaction to one of the Prime Minister's recent campaign speeches. "…I find it highly distressing that the person heading our country in such a crucial time for its economic development should so brazenly disregard basic principles of supply and demand in a purely emotional appeal to the poor and unemployed, thereby, either out of ignorance or otherwise, misleading them with false hopes. He brazenly proclaims that "the jobs are still there" ignoring that without outside demand, even the best product will remain unsold. Does the SRLF plan to consign these people to purposeless make work? The simple truth is that our factories and laboratories have collapsed when many specialists with decades of experience in the field left us amidst the economic and social devastation caused by the inept and corrupt policies of the Greene administration, heading for safer and more stable places. While some of them may come back eventually, for the time being we must face the harsh reality that we now have very little to offer to the wider world, which is the direct cause of the decline of our major industries. This process led to a downward spiral, which we have only recently escaped and are in imminent danger of plunging back into. That doesn't have to happen. Our future need not be as grim and miserable as our past. If we refocus our efforts on providing quality free universal education across a variety of fields and trades, we can raise a new generation of talented researchers and engineers. They, using the considerable organizational knowledge and resources that still remain in many of our companies, will restore our country's prior status and, eventually, rise far beyond it. However, bringing this dream into reality requires bolstering our economy with the funding and cooperation of the interstellar community. Something that must begin with the implementation of new trade agreements with our neighbors and attaining membership in the Outer Alliance - the greatest trading block in our region of the world. Meanwhile, the SRLF is seemingly going out of its way to antagonize private industry, avoid any commitments to outside investors, and lock down our development through poorly considered top-down measures..."

First Meeting of the New Parliament (December 3062): The date is the 4th of December 3062. The day Parliament opens for the first time post-election. After the election results showed a decisive defeat for the parties originally born from the revolution, the new Parliament is widely seen as a symbol of fresh post-revolutionary politics, untainted by old conflicts and ideas. The veteran leadership of the Popular Resistance and CLF must move aside to welcome an entirely different political landscape, one dominated by notions once considered radical. Still, as the ornate digital clock shows 9:00 and the hall is filled with the familiar melody of Today, We Sing of Freedom, some cant help but feel respect for the old leaders, whose ideals and institutions seem to have firmly embedded themselves in the core of the new Sirtan state, despite their own significantly diminished roles. A life-like hologram of Councilor Aurora graces the stage once again. My friends, I am incredibly pleased to be standing here again and welcoming the Members of the Second Parliament of Sirta. To think, that a mere two years ago those words seemed like a wild fantasy, an impossible dream entirely detached from reality. No longer. Over that short period of time, we managed to accomplish much more than anyone could have expected. There is no reason to think we cant accomplish even more still. Unfortunate circumstances may have led us to an election ahead of schedule, but they also served as an opportunity, both to renew the peoples trust in their representatives and to grant it to new visions. The people have seized this opportunity and made their voices heard. Now is the time for you to heed them, to make those visions part of our reality! Old or new, bolstered or weakened, you all have been entrusted with the future of the Sirtan people. You must now work to live up to their expectations. On that note, I announce the Guardian Councils decision to once more charge Prime Minister Luxemburg with the responsibility of government formation. Let us all wish for a swift conclusion to negotiations and a return to our joint efforts to improve the lives of all Sirtans. The December 3062 drafting phase begins now and will last until Thursday the 22nd of March at 12:30 UTC. The Income and Expenses summary for December will go up tomorrow. As before, you have two in-game months to form a viable coalition and pass a Motion of Confidence. You also need to pass a new Budget Bill. Nominees for Speaker will be accepted until 24 hours from now. AFancyQuestionMark fucked around with this message at 20:18 on Mar 19, 2018 |

Comrade Luxemburg Comrades, The SRLF are honored to have been charged by the Guardian Council with forming a government again. I won't be bothering with the flowery speeches, we've got work to do. In this very first month, we'd like to accomplish a major overhaul of the Sirtan tax code to ensure that the wealthiest corporations and members of society are paying their fair share. In the near future, we aim to properly finalize relations and treaties with our neighbors, as well as accelerate the SIRTRAK repairs and launch a major anti-corruption/crime campaign. Looking forward, this government will effectively oversee the complete restoration of the SIRTRAK network, improve power, water, and sanitation infrastructure across Sirta, fully fund all primary and secondary education, and guide the nationalization or cooperativization of major Sirtan industries to best serve the Sirtan people. To accomplish this, we propose the following government: Minister of Justice - Comrade Hope (SRLF) Minister of Defence - Comrade Radek (SRLF) Minister of Internal Security - Comrade Radek (SRLF) Minister of Foreign Affairs - Companion Axo (SDU) Minister of Interior - Comrade Saint-Just (SRLF) Minister of Finance - Companion Axo (SDU) Minister of Education - Comrade Bookchin (SRLF) Minister of Infrastructure - Comrade Luxemburg (SRLF) Minister of Health - Companion Binh Ngai (SDU) Minister of Agriculture - Companion Praxis (SDU) Attorney General - Comrade Bookchin (SRLF) Crazycryodude fucked around with this message at 02:58 on Mar 20, 2018 |

Comrade Luxemburg Seeing as this government's budget is about to expire, I would like to put forth a one month continuing resolution of the current budget, with the exception that 5% of the budget is directed to set up the Ministry of Agriculture (take the 5% evenly from all other budget sectors). Next month, once the new government is fully established, we will devise a more permanent budget. Also, the SRLF would like to propose the first segment of its tax reforms. Income and other tax reforms are currently being internally evaluated, but we are ready to present this first phase of our new plan aimed primarily at ensuring that the richest segments of society are shouldering their fair share of the tax burden. Tax Bill P-1 An Estate and Gift tax shall be instituted. The first 50,000 NSC in assets gifted or left to beneficiaries in a year shall be exempted. Assets totaling 50,000 NSC to 150,000 NSC shall be taxed at a 35% rate. Assets totaling 150,000 NSC to 250,000 NSC shall be taxed at a 70% rate. Assets in excess of 250,000 NSC shall be taxed at a 95% rate. A tax on the transfer of commercial assets shall be instituted on the party transferring said assets. "Commercial assets" are considered to refer to stocks, bonds, commercial real estate, heavy and specialist machinery, computing equipment and software beyond standard consumer grade, and anything else the Ministry of Finance deems a "commercial asset." Transfers of commercial assets shall be taxed at a rate of 1%. The transfer of assets exceeding 150,000 NSC in value during one year shall be taxed at a rate of 5%. The transfer of assets exceeding 250,000 NSC in value during one year shall be taxed at a rate of 30%. Transfer of assets exceeding 350,000 NSC in value during one year shall be taxed at a rate of 90%. Transfers to legal commercial entities recognized by the Ministry of Finance as worker-owned co-operatives are exempted from this tax. A wealth tax shall be instituted. Assets held in excess of 50,000 NSC shall be taxed at an annual rate of 0.5%. Assets in excess of 100,000 NSC shall be taxed at an annual rate of 1%. Assets in excess of 250,000 NSC shall be taxed at an annual rate of 2%. In determining the total value of an entity's assets, a private citizen's primary residence (limited to one unit of a residential-zoned property) shall only contribute 25% of its value towards the total taxed wealth. A wealth cap shall be instituted. No Sirtan household may hold more than 250,000,000 NSC worth of assets. All assets held greater than 250,000,000 NSC shall be taxed at a 100% rate. Attempting to violate this cap via concealing assets, utilizing flow-through entities, and any other means the Ministry of Finance deems evasive or fraudulent shall be considered felony tax evasion and grounds for arrest as well as government seizure of relevant assets. (OOC: AFQM, can we have this so it was introduced as late as possible, like at the end of the month in-universe? Victor Kanpfstein, sole DAL MP and current Minister of Justice, stands before the New Parliament for the first time to say: "The bill advanced by the SRLF is a very watered-down version of our original proposal and the suggested TJC will be little more than the TRC under another name. It is sorely lacking as a means of attaining true justice for the hundreds of thousands of victims of the old regime. That's why I have resubmitted our old bill, just as I promised to in the election debate, as a proper mechanism to swiftly and efficiently deliver the countless heinous criminals still roaming the proper consequences for their actions against the people. Fortunately, the leaders of the two parties that comprise a majority in this Parliament have unreservedly promised to support this exact bill in that same debate and hasten our struggle for justice, so I am confident in promising those victims still among us that the day their humiliation and indignity will come to an end is finally in sight." Minister Bookchin - addressing Parliament Might I remind Minister Kanpfstein, that when last attempted the bill failed. That would imply some changes were necessary to protect the sovereignty of Parliament over one commission .We are merely allowing for a similar proposal with some tweaks to strengthen the bill and the TJC in the cause for true justice, not vengeance. I am frankly tired of your blustering and pathetic attempts to try and drag down my party in the past Parliament, and sad to see it continue in this one. We gave you support and yet you spit in our face every step of the way. To top it off, in your relentless crusade for vengeance you forgot to care about the plight of the people. I think the Sirtan people recognized that, which explains your party's performance in the last election. At the moment you still have my vote, but your reckless and petulant attitude between our respective parties relationship makes me question whether such a promise was ever warranted.

Comrade Luxemburg Announcement made shortly after the Motion of Confidence was proposed Acting in the best interests of the Sirtan people, I hereby announce that my entire cabinet is dissolved. To the now-vacant ministries, I appoint the same ministers listed in my previous speech. Although this is certainly a somewhat unorthodox move, both myself and my party believe it to be in the best interests of Sirta. Reshuffling the cabinet to reflect the incoming government now allows the new ministers to adjust to their positions as soon as possible, and allows us to immediately set to the task of governing. ------------------------------------------------------- December 3062 votes: 1.
