All non-broadcast practices and qualifying sessions will be on the paid stream (unknown about tests, which Indy does livestream on Youtube at the moment). There will be 8 races on NBC proper, with four of those likely being the opener, the two Indy races, and the closer, with the other four unknown. Cost of the streaming package isn't known at the moment. And its indycar so no one cares. And this isnt a joke post I keep seeing that it is a crime that Indy is the best racing series nobody watches. I still watch Nascar and somedays I wonder why I dont just watch indycar instead.

I feel like some of this is that regular companies are fewer and fewer, wealth is going towards the super-rich and nonsense venture capital companies, and money simply isn't being spent like it should anymore.

Timby posted:The NFL is also mad that ESPN is, by far, the most vocal of its TV partners regarding declining ratings. It's been reported in more than one outlet that the relationship between ESPN and the NFL is pretty frosty at this point. Right, I was going to respond to this but didn't. The reason ESPN is the most vocal is because they got the worst deal of the four networks by far. So it's a bit of a open wound when they're paying out the rear end for one game a week and a playoff game, and the others are paying less than them (I think, anyway, could be wrong here). Anime Reference posted:NASCAR also seems to be having a pretty dire sponsorship crunch, even by 2010s auto racing standards. Part of the reason ESPN pays a lot is that they got unlimited highlights to use all day long (they used to be heavily restricted on how much they could show outside of like countdown) but they still had their deal undermined after the fact when the league decided to create the Thursday game

Everything else seems to be both denying leaks stating that they hate each other, and then pretty much nothing after that

I don't even think Mike and Mike was awful. It was just really generic, sanitized sports radio. It was kind of the perfect national sports radio show if your goal is appealing to as many people as possible.

You used to build your Fall weekends around an early Sunday afternoon kickoff (or, maybe one or two times a year, late Sunday or Monday...but those were the 'big games'). Now, your team might be playing Sunday 3rd slot, Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night, Saturday... or not playing all that week. The comfortable routine is no longer there. That said, the Superbowl is just once a year (and its not Thanksgiving). There is no routine at play.
