Have fun, it’s enormous and most of it rips. Personal favorites are For All Slaves..., L’arrivee de la terne morte triomphante, and Cloak of Altering’s first album.

The last thing I remember hearing from GTT was All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity, and he's had 26 releases since then :stare:

edit-- whoa, Genocidal Majesty is WAY different than their earlier stuff, and I'm LOVING it.

edit2-- something about that BOOOOOOM sound he gets in the title track with the kick+distorted bass is insane.

Apparently this album was released end of July digitally, but I only found out about it because I got a promo email from the label that is releasing the CD.

A Pale December is some loving fantastic atmospheric black metal. I'd say if you're a fan of Harakiri for the Sky, a slightly less medieval Obsequiea, maybe even a little Agalloch, this will be right up your alley. Lots of melody, airy ambient stringed instrument interludes and synths, a really beautiful, depressing, harsh kind of vibe. The production is fantastic too, the drums in particular sound amazing and I normally don't give a poo poo about drums really as long as they're there.

A lot of the songs have a real sense of building up and intensifying before dropping to a lull then picking back up again along with a variety of quick time-signature adjustments sprinkled throughout, it's a very satisfying listen.

Favourite track - The Path of Stars: https://apaledecember.bandcamp.com/track/the-path-of-stars

But honestly every song is its own treasure.

[edit] Meant to post this in the general thread as I'd hestitate to call this really BLACK METAL, much more in the "post-" range, but maybe you all may get a kick out of it.

Man this is so good. The span of Obsequiea to Agalloch is full of amazing bands.

I can't wait for Khorada's album to come out. Apparently last month it went to mastering, and this month they signed with a label. Really interested to see what direction they go in without Haughm involved.

Well, they said it's not going to be a new Agalloch, and all of the other members' side/previous projects are completely different, so you might be happy.

This might be better in the regular metal thread, but I'm looking for an album by a band that is black metal with hardcore-style vocals. I think it came out last year or the year before, though it may have even been from 2015. The cover is (I think) a black and white illustration of a hearse outside a chapel, or maybe outside a tower.

Love the riffing on Blåtimen. Feels like a pretty natural progression from Autumn Eternal, but the vocals are lower in the mix. Excited for the folk side... If any of it is like Tamarack's Gold Returns I'm gonna be stoked.
