Fantasia, Gleeson, Ambrose and Myers would all be in the side if fit. There's also Merrett and the reduced rotations as a result of him missing nearly all of the game.

Eh, those 4 are hardly worth caring about imo. Particularly compared to the Crows outs - Lynch, Smith, Crouch, Walker (and Lever if you want to compare yoy).

Merrett out early clearly hurts, but the Crows also were a player down for at least the last quarter and I think the later start to the preseason that grand finalists have hurts teams a lot more than is generally accepted. (Random aside: I'd be interested to see if any of our stats gurus could work something out to test that theory?)

I'm not saying it's not a good win, just that I don't think it's a good as it potentially appears.

Fun Shoe
I can’t see any contact to Merrett’s head, looks like a fair bump to me. 3 weeks.

The prospect of Carlton AND Essendon (along with Richmond of course) being kinda good teams this year is kinda making me dread this season.

What if losing to the Tigers in a Grand Final passes the old Richmond curse onto your club?

Could be worse.
Geelong, Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn could all be competing for top-4 at the pointy end of the season.
The Cuntstorm forming over Melbourne would be visible from the ISS.

As it is only Geelong and Richmond would be early fancies for the top-4, Essendon should be in that "home finals" bracket and the remainder are probably hunting around in the bubble for scraps.

By which I of course mean, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN GET READY FOR WHAT WILL COME TO BE KNOWN AS THE START OF FOURTHORN.

Carlton are not going to be a half decent side this year. They caught a rusty Richmond off guard and had a totally dysfunctional backline. Round 1 is often filled with weird results when viewed in context of the greater season, don't get excited about them.

Bombers could be alright though.

I feel like this impending heap of rain is punishment for the AFL's terrible scheduling/general lack of prioritising the AFLW competition.

edit: suits the Lions, though.
