There's been a big series of stuff recently on one particular predator in British youth football, but he's far from the only one over the decades. All these stables have to get cleaned out now and new rules put in place or else everyone who's in hiding waiting for this to blow over is just going to be right back at it in 2 or 3 years' time.

quote:By December 1997, months of being sexually abused by Havercroft were taking a toll on Thompson, she said. She had a nightmare that Havercroft placed a dog collar around her neck and pulled her down the pool in an effort to make her swim faster. After Havercroft found out about the dream, he bought a dog collar and leash for Christmas, Thompson said. One day at practice he pressured Thompson into wearing the dog collar and then had her swim while Havercroft, holding the attached leash, walked down the pool deck beside her laughing. Thompson said she was humiliated. Holy poo poo . what is wrong with people

I assumed the charges, when that guy originally got arrested without the charges listed, would be for simple neglect over Nassar. I did not think it would be that the guy was ALSO a rapist pedophile.

The Go Blue Guarantee helps kids afford college. Escalating costs have made college an unattainable dream for many low- and middle-income students. But U-M’s new Go Blue Guarantee is taking some students one step closer to realizing that dream. The program, launched this semester, offers four years of free tuition to in-state students on the Ann Arbor campus whose families earn $65,000 or less and have less than $50,000 in assets.

He routinely glared at women sexually, made them spin around for him and suggested he send them nude photos or engage in sexual acts in exchange for preferential treatment from him, according to prosecutors. He reminded them of his might and their vulnerability – young students piling on debt who could fail to graduate and thus have no doctor’s salary to eventually pay off their loans. Just shut down the whole school, distribute its assets to all directional Michigans.

DJExile posted:The tough thing is endowments aren't just liquid cash sitting in the bank. Also they're usually earmarked for specific stuff. It's one of the ways important alumni perpetuate sports programs that might otherwise come under scrutiny. They endow a stadium, or training facilities, and the school bends over backwards keeping the program going because maybe someday they alumnus or alumna will give to another program too. My lovely d3 school that didn't even have a wrestling program somehow kept a men's badminton team going for ages because of an earmarked endowment.
