It's sort of depressing actually. I did my thesis on why people in urban areas in the Netherlands don't garden, and among the many reasons is that you can't really grow anything you'd want to eat/put effort into compared to what you can get at the store. There's just not enough sunshine or warmth and it's too damp. I've tried multiple times to grow a garden in pots and the only thing I can manage is dill and chamomile. All my eggplants and tomatoes and zucchinnis and pumpkins and peppers just die. Gonna try beets and kale this year, maybe I'll get something outta that.

If you can grow weed using a couple 5 gallon buckets, in a closet, then you can grow food with that system. You can get LED lights that put out just the wavelength that plants need.
Essentially, mini green houses.

VertsKebap? That didn't really last: they renamed themselves twice, opened then closed a bunch of locations, and the kebab isn't even on the menu anymore. The food's reasonably good for what it is, just not at all what they started as.

Did they? That sucks. It was one of the few places near campus to get something quick that had a reasonable number of calories in it.

Doesn't count as a vacation if I have to get up at 7am every day. At home working remote I can just roll out of bed at 11, so this is some serious bullshit. It's not even like there's an event I need to be here for, like a big product release or something. They just want all remote employees to pop in every few months because reasons.

My old excuse of "they don't pay me enough to care" doesn't apply anymore, though; this is actually a pretty sweet gig, so I put up with it. I just don't get why they WANT to pay several grand to have me be less productive for a week, since I'm uncomfortable (have to wear actual pants, crappy office chair, etc.) and forced to use this lovely mac because they won't let me connect my other laptop to the wifi (not that I have my multi-monitor setup or any other resources I have at home anyway). Overall I'd estimate I get maybe 1 day's productivity out of the week.

That said, Wicked opened in the theater across the street from my hotel last night, and it's super easy to find a last minute ticket for just one person, so that was a nice distraction. I loving loathe country music, so otherwise this city is pretty awful for me.

What about getting grow lights and doing it indoors? Like if you have a free porch or extra room you might be able to grow some good food. It may be a bit expensive but good, man.

I don't think Dutch people need any lesson in growing plants indoor, they are very good at it . It's just they have bad taste in food because calvinists hate everything good or fun or expensive (they are also the reason why evangelicals in the US hate everything fun and good too).

I live in Nashville, and we fly people to our office a lot. One guy loves eating hot chicken and usually gets some his first night in town. At some point the next day, he calls into a meeting he should technically be present for. He always says he got caught up in something else and had to call in from another building, but I know he's conference calling while taking a spicy poop. So you should try that.

Go see Slim Chance and the Can't Hardly Play Boys while you're in Nashville. It's bluegrass/country, but they're fun guys to watch get super drunk while still able to play music at a crazy good level. I only got to hang out with them once or twice up here in Chicago, but they're really nice guys. I know they were the house band of some bar down there, but I don't know which one.

A man goes to a lawyer and asks "How much do you charge for three questions?" Lawyer says "$900. And what is the second question?"

Whether they intend it or not, their mining setup has a pretty high chance of containing child pornography in some form, because pedos figured out they could share links and images via blockchain completely anonymously.
