Danheim released a new album.

I'd say it falls somewhere between Dark Ambient and Martial Folk. They showed up in my Gplay feed and I've been pleasantly surprised with how good their albums are.
Phone posting so I can’t check this out but I found a band called Heilung a while back that’s also some sort of Viking music thing. The first thing I did was try to figure out if it was in any way connected to white supremacy since those clowns love Viking poo poo, but as far as I can tell it’s safe (some of the YouTube comments seem to be complaints that they should be racist).

I did this too! I watched their live show and was absolutely blown away and then immediately searched to make sure they weren't white supremacist music. And yeah, also noticed some people were disappointed that they aren't singing about how great white people are.

From what I can tell they try to distance themselves from any of those losers but it’s 2018 and everything is terrible so you can’t be too sure.

Maria’s outfit for that show was pretty great and it’s a non-trivial part of why I’m interested in them :)

In my opinion, maybe the most disappointing live act I have ever seen, and I've seen Kenny Rogers come out on stage on a Rascal scooter.

I have some questions about your Kenny Rogers experience.

I saw FLA a couple of years ago and they were... alright? The older tracks were good but the more recent stuff didn't seem great live to me (I'm much more into the first few FLA albums so YMMV). I was told that Leeb was miming the songs from all but the first couple of albums that night however I have no idea if this is true/was just for that gig/is just some bullshit scene rumour.

Tactical Neural Implant was one of the best live shows I ever saw, but it was the only show I ever saw stoned out of my gourd, so that helped. They were a good live act when I saw them , but the last show I saw was ages ago (Implode, maybe - though the last time I bought a shirt was Hard Wired).

Last week I saw Grendel (with Peter Turns Pirate and Ghostfeeder) and 3TEETH (with H09909 and Street Sects).

PTP had a lot of energy and ran around a lot, but he pretty much just hit play on his music and then sang. He's the keys player for Grendel.

I fell in love with Ghostfeeder after seeing them open for PIG last summer so I was stoked to see them again. They played a few new songs that sounded really good, and a Radiohead cover for some reason. Mark and Derek are really nice dudes and always hang around after the show. I'd never seen Grendel before but they were so loving good. JD sounded a bit hoarse at a couple points but overall it was all really good.

Street Sects might grow on me but they blasted strobes THEIR ENTIRE SET, which is incredbily annoying. H09909 is rap-punk which is definitely NOT on my normal rotation but they had a killer set and had a huge pit going. 3TEETH was great. Alexis' mom was front row and he warned people not to bump into her hahaha

I saw both of those shows and mostly agree. H09909 was a bizarre choice for an opener. They seemed to have their own separate fans who all left after their set. I liked how the guy from Street Sects wandered through the crowd revving a chainsaw.

IIRC you'll almost always have that with club versions b/c they usually start with several bars of the beat to assist in smoothly mixing from the previous song.

Well how was 242?

Edit - didn't notice the timestamp. I've only seen them once and it was fine only because I was in a "holy poo poo I'm seeing Front 242 finally" frame of mind.

They were ok. I might have teared up but no one saw me.

Grendal currently going full Bon Jovi in front of a few hundred people with a lot of lasers. Not my thing normally but it is impressive.

I have been several of these guys over my time in the scene. I am very embarassed to have been some of them.

True scene story: I know of an occasion where a DJ playing a set before a popular Metropolis Records band took the stage was told in no uncertain terms that he was only allowed to play tracks by Metropolis artists.

Here's some awesome Mexican EBM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd2RvhVgigg

I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever heard old school EBM in Spanish before but I am extremely ok with it.

Edit: I am now discovering there appears to be a pretty solid EBM scene in Mexico and it is a refreshing change from shaven headed singers growling in English or German.

Oh hell yeah. There's interesting music happening in Latin America.

I like this group from Colombia that mixes cumbia with industrial. Some of the sounds reminds me of Doubting Thomas:
