The AJ/Nak match was heading in the same direction their WK9 match did except it ended at the half way point when AJ hit the styles clash and didn't continue for another 10-15 minutes. It was the booking imo

I'm of two worlds.

On the one hand for the past 3-4 years they've been trying to make Roman The Guy, and it's been incredibly poo poo the entire time through no fault of his own. So I didn't want him winning tonight. On the other hand... they've Luger'd him. He's a joke now, he loving spent a month calling out Brock and got his rear end kicked, after every opportunity, after being put over Cena. Now loving what? At least if he won and the crowd kept turning on him you could turn him heel and play off that. But now? He's no top baby face and he sure as poo poo isn't gonna be a proper heel, he's a crybaby who lost now.

Stick a fork in him, he's done.

that match was a fuckin dumpster too. played up to both guys weaknesses (just doing the same poo poo over and over), having roman kick out of five f5's is just insulting. it's just so desperate and grasping and there's just no where to go from here.

he just needs to go away for a long time and come back completely different. this version of "roman reigns" is so hosed up beyond repair there's no saving it. every day he's wearing that stupid vest and coming out to the shield music is just playing into sunk cost fallacy.

I don't watch NXT, but I can safely say I've never seen a main roster Nakamura match and thought "this was worth watching".

Also the "WWE's rockstar" thing is just so dumb when you have Elias, English, and even Jericho running around.

I'm not saying that isn't the simplest answer.

I'm just saying we're living in a world where US Cabinet members are getting busted on a weekly basis for weird rear end corruption stuff and bribes and from one angle what we got here is the family business of a US Cabinet member making a big show about working with folks tied to a corrupt foreign power.

So, you know, non-zero chance "The Greatest Royal Rumble" becomes a New York Times headline in the near future.

It was an overall good and fun show up to roughly the point where the Daniel/Shane vs Kevin/Sami match happened, at which point apart from a brief uptick for the Braun match, the show just felt like it had completely run out of steam.

The baffling main event has also left many viewers just kinda half-confused, half-laughing.

My dad once took me to a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium when I was a kid. That's the closest thing I know. But we skipped most of the second game and got me home to sleep for school and just stayed around long enough to show me for the first time all the lights on at night and to play a game with a guy way far away in the quasi-empty stadium throwing paper airplanes back and forth to see if we could clear the field. I still have the ticket stub and can picture that night scene with the lights and it makes me choke up and smell my dad's cologne a little bit.

I can only assume that's the best explanation for attending a Wrestlemania and I just don't get it because I wasn't into wrestling as a kid and don't have kids into it now.

None of my three are really into it, but my youngest enjoyed the hell out of the first two hours or so. And little ears hear the crowd, so when a six year old girl yells "Kick her in the nuts" during the Charlotte/Asuka match, all you can do is try to make sure they don't see you laughing.

Kevin (now) Steen has been doing Twitter fuckery ever since the firing angle started, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Nakamura is fine (please don't always bad shinsuke), this match was just paced...weird. I can't put it on him or AJ, and prior to the Rumble he kinda did...nothing (feuds with Corbin, Jinder and Ziggler and some multi-man matches).

Shinsuke's turn makes a lot of sense if they're planning on having a World Championship match with him and Bryan at some point between Summerslam and the end of the year. Face Knee2Face vs Heel Knee2Face must happen.

Nakamura's turn makes sense booking wise. I think it just fell a little flat because the match didn't have the big time battle feel that would have sold his frustration or the fake respect spot. The match just wasn't good enough for the post-match angle.

I don't think the show ever rose above passable and often dipped below bad, and even the decent matches had subpar booking. I think AJ/Nakamura was one of the better matches, but most people agree it was pretty disappointing and felt like it ended right as it was ramping up.

The one exception was, ironically, steph's match which was fun all around.
