Post your predictions here for each series and how in how many games (Tampa in 6, etc). First game is Wednesday at 6pm eastern, so I would say thats the due date. Will tally who is correct, and probably make some basic spreadsheet. Can someone post reminding me how scoring works for this? Ill then update this. gently caress Pittsburgh. Round 1 East TBL def. NJD in 5 - New Jersey are a nice story, but Tampa just don't have any weaknesses BOS def. TOR in 6 - Lots of goals on either side, but Boston pulls this one out (no hilarious meltdowns this time) WSH def. CBJ in 4 - Yeah... Not feeling Columbus this year PIT def. PHI in 7 - Will be the highlight of the first round Round 2 West NSH def. COL in 6 - Like Tampa/Jersey lots of depth runs into plucky young team and wins WPG def. ~my thoughts~ Tampa vs. New Jersey: I think New Jersey can push this to 6, but they just don't have enough to compete with Tampa. Boston vs. Toronto: I am trying to be optimistic, but I think this will be the closest series. Both teams are very good, and I think it's a coin flip as to who will actually win. Washington vs. Columbus: I think Columbus can finally escape the first round, partly because they are a good team, and partly because they are playing Washington. Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia: Pittsburgh, winner of the past 2 Cups, will have a tough road ahead of them. A three-peat is incredibly difficult to do. Then again, we thought the same thing for their two-peat. I am just not a huge fan of Philly's team. I am also biased because I am never a fan of Philly. Nashville vs. Colorado: On paper, this looks like it's going to be an easy series for Nashville. Seems like everyone is on the same page with this one. Winnipeg vs. Minnesota: Again, on paper this looks like it'll be easy for Winnipeg. Jets had a great season, but I was slightly hesitant picking them in 5. Maybe it's not based in anything, but it feels like a team that comes back to the playoffs after a few year layoff, may have a tough road. Vegas vs. Los Angeles: Vegas' magical season has to end sometimes. They aren't winning the Cup (prepare to quote this if they do). They have a lot of inexperience on their team, and I am really questioning their ability to do damage in the playoffs. Anaheim vs. San Jose: Honestly, I have no idea. In any other series, I would pick both of these teams to lose in the first. I have to pick one, so why not Anaheim?

My strategy is to consider what I least want to happen. Worst timeline and all that, so it's bound to be correct. Nashville in 5 - I like the Preds, but I don't think the Avs have a chance Winnipeg in 6 - To build up a terrible "Canada's Team" narrative LA in 5 - A fun expansion team in the playoffs!? So of course they're going to get killed Anaheim in 6 - gently caress Corey Perry and the rest of these cheating scumbags Devils in 7 - To maximize the pain I feel as an Oilers fan as Hall drags this team to the 2nd round. Good for Hall, bad for anti-Oiler hot takes Leafs in 7 - The other "Canada's Team" narrative that needs building. Leafs fans will be insufferable Caps in 5 - To set up 2nd round hilarity Pens in 5 - We all want another 2012 series, so this one will be boring and Penguin dominated Winnipeg over Nashville in 6 - Canada's Team! Anaheim over LA in 6 - Anaheim still cheats too much Leafs over NJ in 5 - Canada's other Team! Pens over Caps in 4 - lol caps Anaheim over Winnipeg in 5 Pens over Leafs in 7 - so having two Canadian teams in the semi-finals will of course end with both losing, and giving us the shittiest possible result ever. Even shittier than the Leafs winning. Pens over Anaheim in 4 - And then the finals suck. Hockey is dead. Life sucks. Begin mentally preparing for a 2nd Trump term.

You know, last year I distinctly remember, being second (ie. first loser, the one no one remembers etc.) overall and all, that we did only one round at a time and people could then make new guesses based on what teams actually had gone through. But now some people are posting the whole bracket so which way is it going to be? Doesn't matter much either way but it's silly to see columns of red x:s for teams that weren't even participating in later rounds. Maybe. Or funny.
