Yeah, that was just kind of painful to listen to. Very "spoken word" and awkward instead of actual song.

Of course I'm a big fan of the original so take it whatever grain of salt. But considering the case for it is "they enunciate better"... yeah, take it however you want.

I'm not sure I think you can really do a hip hop musical about the American founding fathers with a bunch of Brits trying not to sound like Downton abbey extras by talking with a stiff upper lip.

some of them are fine and the guy playing Hamilton is really pretty but every single time the guy playing Burr says a word like a theater teacher trying to teach mumble mouthed high schoolers how to E-Nun-See-Ate it makes me cringe a little.

it does lose a little bit being so particular with the words. Some of the rhyme schemes actually benefit from being a little less precious with the pronunciations, especially that second clause sung by Ponytail Guy (Laurens). The way the OG broadway actor sang it, "father" and "farther" sounded almost like the same word and it linked the two "father"s with the rest of what he said, when you really go after that "r" in "farther" it disconnects it.

(I have lots of thoughts about Hamilton. I got to see it on Broadway with the original cast because I'm a huge Lin-Manuel fan and it was slightly underwhelming but still impressive, and I also want a big budget version because I think blowing out the budgets with period sets and trappings would really make it sing, no pun intended. I also have fan casting of incredibly famous rappers who I think should be in it if you didn't go the RENT route and cast the original cast. Beyonce has to be Angelica because I need to hear her sing Satisfied, and Chuck D ought to be George Washington.)

edit: because i am exactly the right kind of nerdy, here is my stupid fantasy casting for a Hamilton movie with a bajillion dollar casting budget:

Hamilton: Kanye West
Burr: Drake
Angelica: Beyonce Knowles
Eliza: Alicia Keys
Washington: Chuck D
Lafayette: Childish Gambino
Hercules: Tyler the Creator
Laurens: Kid CuDi
Jefferson: Andre 3000
Madison: Big Boi
Philip: Chance the Rapper
Samuel Seabury: Bruno Mars
Peggy: Ariana Grande
Maria Reynolds: Janelle Monae
King George: Justin Timberlake

I really like the joke of George being the only white guy in the cast, and the part really does require a singer, which Kanye isn't. The other two are real good though.

It's a shame that the second season of Feud will be about Prince Charles and Diana because Joe Tex and James Brown (Chadwick Boseman could even reprise his role and everything) would be a lot more entertaining.

I'm glad things seem to be turning around for him, I think he has a lot more range than people give him credit for, especially as a comedic actor. I don't watch any of the CW hero shows but it seems like a good fit for him.

Routh was fantastic in Dylan Dog and, managed to hold up against Peter Stormare which is not the easiest thing.
