It was great! Never made it on the site, though, partly because I didn't try long enough or hard enough, really. Though for a while I used to look back and think about having missed out on this amazing opportunity to work with these amazing people and do some great, creative work. If you learned literally anything about writing or cameras or lighting, or if you developed any insight at all into any particular film or genre, or if you got better at it in any way, your experience was less of a waste than Doug Walker’s life to date. Ditto if you managed to do it without harming anyone or contributing to the harm of others through inaction or stupidity.

Doug Walker reminds me of Kevin Smith in that he wants to be a great filmmaker but is unwilling to improve and learn basic technical stuff because he got ahead without knowing those things (among other things). But when it was time to come together and make something of higher caliber (the anniversary films) he wasn't willing to improve his skillset even the slightest, or at least this how it seems. Reading about how much of a technophobe he is is not surprising at all. Am I wrong or does Rob handle all the computer stuff for Nostalgia Critic?

The problem is that it's a bunch of people willfully misrepresenting what's going on. Only a tiny number of people knew about what was happening when it was actually happening; this has all come out many years after his death and the only reason it came out at all is because of CA's inept responses. The dude is loving dead; telling the world about what happened and opening up the victims to backlash helps literally nobody. These people don't actually care, they just want to feel self-righteous about how THEY would totally take down the scumbag etc.

They’re willfully misunderstanding that the people who wrote the document about CA only found out about the abuse last week when contacted by a victim, ie long after Justin Carmichael was dead. CA management on the other hand revealed that they knew the whole time, chose not to contact any authorities, and tried to monetize the abuser’s death.
