Least it wasn't a fucking red shell

$2 a month is worth it to me. I like Roadkill and the rest of the original content, and have been paying them for a while now. I'm not liking having to wade through crappy Discovery shows to get to it, but I'll deal until they make MTOD nothing but cable shows, which I'm sure is inevitable.

Bully!
I remember when Powerblock TV added a bunch of new shows and put all their funding into them, leaving Horsepower and Trucks to wither.

Stacey David got a lot of mileage from sponsor shill episodes but it was painful. His current show on his own streaming service is more painful.

That man taught me to not be afraid of wrenching :(

Shadetree Mechanic, from back before Powerblock was Powerblock, was probably the second biggest influence on my wrenching habits after my dad. Just a couple of guys doing normal maintenance and repair work on normal cars, on TV for a half hour minus commercial time. Nothing like that would ever get aired today, especially with a million Youtube videos of varying production quality showing the same thing.

I also miss early Trucks and the Jessi Combs era of Xtreme 4x4. The sponsor poo poo was there but it was at a reasonable level and they showed a meaningful amount of the process, where now those sorts of shows are 20 minutes of talking about the product and two minutes of wrenching montage.

I remember that too, what sucks about Motor trend on demand is that since discovery bought them they dumped all these lovely reality car shows onto the platform. The shows that are the antithesis of roadkill, fake drama, invented time crunches, TV personalities getting more screen time than the cars. So now I have to dig through a bunch of crap to find a new hot rod garage, roadkill garage, dirt every day or road kill episode. Those are literally the only reason I pay for a subscription. The brand is getting muddied by adding all the lovely dated content.

On the other hand youtube sucks for content creators now, google keeps changing the rules and demonetizing videos as well as pushing their own lovely subscription model and original content that no one wants. It's going to continue to fracture and we'll end up seeing more creators moving away from youtube.

Yeah not to be a killjoy I just feel awful for everyone in those situations. There's a person confronting their impending loss of independence, at best; at worst, someone completely out of control of one of most dangerous items in everyday use.

the first thing i assumed was road rage and/or alcohol. perhaps living in a state that hands out drivers licenses to practically anyone that can afford the transaction fee while seeing several car accidents per week for as long as i can remember has made me too cynical in regards to this kind of stuff

He... seems to approve of most the work, even comments multiple times that the guy is doing very good work that would likely be approved by BMW... he's just more "WTF" at the fact that someone is putting this kind of work into such a hosed up car, plus the glued on roof instead of welded.

Apparently this doesn't happen in the US but here not only is it two months behind the release schedule, they even lock past content. Here's what I see now:

I could use my work VPN if I really wanted to I guess but this is a real bummer. I get that it takes money but this seems excessive considering they did ok somehow with youtube for 6 years and now even have big name sponsors.

Hi, YouTube thread, I found a channel where an Aussie is doing some heavy mods to a Nissan truck I don't recognize. A ton of fabrication is involved and if he's never heard of Binky before, I'd be shocked. Similar senses of humor and production devices (throwing fabbed bits into frame, for example). I'm on episode 4 and it's a real hoot. The channel is called "Dogged Fabrication" and the project is "Project Twin VNT - Twin Turbo TD42 Patrol."
click the thing
The videos are short, but they're released every month!
