About how far ahead does Niantic announce the new community day's featured Pokemon? I'm kinda excited now for the prospect of a favorite Pokemon line being featured and getting a shiny even if it's useless in battles. My fun anecdote from the event is some dude who was going off on Pokemon continuity and lore and canon material, and he was saying Pokemon Go exists before the main game series all because of the transferring and candies, which totally meant that Pokemon candy was a commodity that was eventually fought for in a war which was the war they hinted at in the main games or something? I love how people stitch these theories together from flavor text and just musings from NPCs that reference nebulous Pokemon history. I also remember people constantly talking about this subject all because of the existence of Lt. Surge.

I had my star pieces going during the event and hatched like crazy. My biggest issue during the event was that eggs weren't dropping from stops. I ended up only getting one 10k egg during the event. What hatched from it? A mareep

I hatched 3 10ks during the event and got another in an incubator still. Porygon and 2 Bagons. Kicking yes. Sadly this is the last outside event for us in Phoenix. Time to hit the mall next month! Sucks most of the stops are outside, but at least there's several gyms and one stop inside to lure up. I nominate Magikarp for the next one! Karp or perhaps Horsea, or Machop....gently caress, why not an overall dragon event?

Good event day, even for a useless Pokemon. For shinies, I caught 3 of them, while my daughter caught 9. We also caught a lv 1 machamp, and a few other fun things. When we got home, we saw a Gyarados on the Sightings screen and walked to the dry river behind our house to find it.

It was a garbage weather day today with a crazy temperature drop and rain in Philly, but I managed to snag five shiny Mareep and about 1200 candy total. I even hatched a 100% Trapinch, wheee. Hopefully the May event will done with better weather.

I think bulbasaur got figured out really early due to someone just changing image urls on the go website, but they announced Mareep, what, two weeks ago? And the Ampharos move was a week ago. so probably 2+ weeks

Dunno if I should be happy about the downtime in the mobile games I'm playing. Gonna be pretty boring now that people are winding down from Latios raids and even moreso for me now that I have a 95% one and the community day event just finished. Shiny chances for legendaries were great. Wish they just incorporated that straight from the start on each new legendary but tweak down the chances of them just slightly than what they did for Lugia. Gonna be boring next month when Latias is the same thing, less powerful, and guaranteed no shinies.

If the next event is Charmander, I'm sold. I like what they did with Bulbasaur and made the catch rate a bit easier. I think the best part about community day isn't so much the increased spawn of one type but whatever goes on with it. First time we had double xp, then we had double stardust, now double candy.

Not for me specifically though, but my son has in 2 days managed to get 101 pokemon of the Kanto dex. I can totally see him reach the 110-120 range in the next two days. This includes really rare stuff like Tangela and Snorlax. Continueing his string of incredible luck, he snagged 4 shiny Mareep while I was still looking for my first and his second 5km egg hatched had a Wynaut. On the one hand I am happy he appreciates his luck, on the other hand I tell you, 5 year olds can be very cruel.

Did anyone else experience Mareeps disappearing for 20 or 30 minutes during the event? Everything else was still spawning rapidly. Very weird. I continued my community day tradition of only getting one or two (one this time) shiny Pokémon at the tail end of the event, but I was just happy to be able to evolve my first Ampharos. At our site, there was a huge Omanyte nest as well, which was fine but annoying when you'd think it was a Mareep but nope. Also my friend made a rad cake:

Did they swap up the spawns to be the rarer Kanto pokemon today? So far sitting at my house I got a Kabuto followed by a Magmar. I mean, I'm really happy to finally have a Kabutops but it's still odd

I've seen Dratini in weird places and I also saw a Snorlax which I never see. Other people have been reporting Snorlax in the area as well so I guess they are included too.

This event has been great because I have never seen so many Magnemite before. Seriously, before a week ago, I saw maybe 2 in the wild, and everything else has been from eggs. Now I've got enough candy to evolve a Magnezone whenever Gen 4 drops.

Enough Magnemite spawned that I finally got my gold Steel medal. That's all of them! Aside from Dragon... Event was pretty good, nearly got 1k Mareep candy before I evolved stuff. Got one Dragon Pulse Ampharos for the hell of it, but waited until the event finished to actually get my battle ready shiny Ampharos. Only got 2 shinies throughout the whole thing despite catching over 100 of the drat things, just like the Dratini CD. Charmander's gonna be a popular one, remember to get two strong/shiny ones to eventually Mega them!

Yeah, I am not gold on Steel, Fighting, or Dragon. But this event has at least gotten me way closer on the first two. I also started playing late enough that I didn't get too many Machamp raids in, and now I have several functional ones after feeding pinaps to every Machop I see. Now I just need to find a ditto ...

Another great Community Day for me. I caught enough Mareep to evolve two Ampharos, plus I caught 2 shinies. Also finally caught enough Magikarp to get my first Gyrados (which I'm saving to evolve for my Mew research), and enough Charmanders to get my first Charizard. Caught 2 Solrocks and my first 2 Illumires, plus the main park in my town was a Staryu nest, so I have 3 really powerful Starmies too. Saturday I also had my first EX raid and I managed to catch Mewtwo on the last ball! So my Kanto pokedex is now missing just 8 entries (Blastoise, Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, Gyrados and Mew). It's been a great week for me!
