The Optus Stadium turf is being called into question due to the spate of lower leg injuries and players saying that the surface feels quite hard under their feet from both sides.

Baby you can shout at me,
But you can't need my eyes.
So the turf is hard the lights are annoying and the fences cut people sweet

They fixed the fence already just fyi, they put a perspex layer across all the lower boards.

:qq::qq::qq::qq::qq::qq::qq:
Apparently the led fences are the same as at other stadiums it was just a weird occurrence where 2 players got hurled into the fences in the same game. The fences are a half meter back further from the boundary line than the standards require as well

I'M CONCERNED ABOUT A NUMBER OF THINGS

Periphery posted:

The Saints good year continues:

Roberton confirmed out indefinitely (probably at least 3 weeks min).
Koby Stevens out indefinitely with delayed concussion.
Paddy McCartin had his car stolen and house broken into.

At least that Paddy didn’t give chase and gently caress his Achilles like Port’s Paddy did

Burswood is literally a dump, a swamp and an old golf course so the ground should be as soft as a gablett hamstring

With this littany of unsolved problems the AFL is pretty justified in signing the MCG as Grand Final host until 2058 imo

The fact that the only other stadium that has a capacity approaching the attendance at every AFL grand final for the last decade is the Sydney Olympic Stadium, a ground no-one wants to use because it's horrifically mismanaged and generally garbage was probably the clincher, but hey, you never know!

It was on AFL tonight, but I haven't heard it anywhere else so they may be wrong.

And the Bulldogs play there Saturday night, no doubt adding to our relatively long injury list.

It's almost as if a certain fast paced, 360 degree motion, high fatigue sport is a common factor here or something.

Yeah half our team is out injured. At least Harry McKay is back this week? :smithicide:

Also I believe this is the first match since Marc Murphy did his shoulder in mid 2005 that Carlton are playing without a #1 pick selected in the squad, now that Murphy, (Gibbs), Kreuzer and Weitering are out.

Murphy returned in 2006 and played every possible game until 2012 with his second shoulder injury and by then we had Gibbs and Kreuzer (who was also out injured a lot)
