I’m not a Halo mp fan but MCC is an assload of video games for a decent price. This doesn’t surprise me. At the start of the new year the devs made an announcement that they’re going back, fixing things, adding more, and updating for the One X. It’s a pretty ambitious project. So why is Breakdown considered good again? I made it to the first couple of soldiers and died horribly. I love PDO and Conker on the X.

Breakdown is exactly as bad as Black. A lot people talk about it with rose colored glasses and haven't played the game in probably a decade. It has not aged well. Also Conker LaR multiplayer is kind of bad without being able to level up.

Have they done anything to update the Xbox elite controller so it doesn’t get stuck drift as easily? I have one that’s lasted about two years but has this issue and want to replace it. It’s such a fantastic controller. Also, what are some good recommendations for headphones for pvp play that can plug into the Xbox controller and do in-line mute of the mic and the game’s sound through the headphones? I don’t need anything twitch tier crazy just good ones.

I played Black last year and it's still hella fun but the kind of game that's so repetitive that you'll probably get bored after 3 levels. drat fine shootbang animations though. I appreciate the lack of gameplay interruptions (scripted events, cutscenes) during levels, they don't make FPS' like that anymore. It's at the very least worth playing for how incredibly disconnected the story/dialogue are from the gameplay to the point where the whole game unintentionally feels like a fever dream.

Breakdown still owns. Black is a fun and has satisfying shootbang but the AI is pretty goddamn bad and as the poster above said the story seemed to be tacked on after the game was made.

Black is all of the sound design and gun play you’d get out of a game like Bad Company 2 or even a more modern  game but from 2005.It was kickass at the time but the hardware just wasn’t ready.

Hey is there any benefit to running original Xbox games on an Xbox one X? I've been wanting to get an Xbone for a while due to the backwards compatibility stuff and I'm trying to figure out which one to get. I remember hearing that original xbox games on xbone have a greater resolution than on the S but I can't find anything confirming that.

Breakdown is a narratively fascinating game that does tons of neat tricks with its story and gameplay elements that were unheard of at the time. Its also abusively difficult at the start with the hardest sections of the game being the start, with an excruciatingly badly designed encounter early on that does not telegraph what youre supposed to do on a timelimit and with enemies interrupting you. Then later you become a loving god of destruction and thats super rad up until a final combat challenge 95% through the game that stonewalled the majority of people who perservered.

There are many original Xbox and Xbox 360 titles that can do things like render in 4k on the X and all backwards compatibility games will play better on it regardless.

Depends on the game but I think with the OG Xbox games at least the more popular ones will run at or near 4K. Games without the res boost will still get some benefits but less noticeable ones. Also just in case you’re confused about this, only a small number of OG Xbox games work. There’s also a narrow list wrt 360 games but it’s more generous, like 200 titles.
