Every single year the Ivy League takes a break from fucking up the world through its various alumni to fuck up everyone's bracket instead.
Assuming no rainouts, by the end of this weekend's series, the Braves will have played 27 games, 9 of them against the Phillies. They will play yet another series against them in May, and then not see them at all until playing 7 of the last 10 games of the season against them, a four-month gap.

While I'm definitely attracted to the idea of making a hefty profit off someone's first major league home run or a world series winning HR or something like that, I don't know if it'd be worth the sheer level of poo poo you'd receive from sports press and especially social media. I'm kinda getting anxiety just thinking about it.

Id definitely want an autographed ball and a picture with the player and probably money to blow in the team store. Other than that I don't know if I could consciencely ask for more.

The Rockies 1-0 victory tonight was the first time a relief pitcher had driven in the only run of the game since Joe Neikro did it in a game on Aug 23, 1980. The Astros beat the Cubs 1-0 in a 17-inning game.

It was on his broken bat ground out but technically it was after his home run the previous at bat.

Luckily it was on his good ankle.

What is the single season home run record for a player against a single team? Probably Barry, Mcguire or Sosa against someone I'd imagine? I believe 7 already ties (or maybe broke?) the single season record for opposing players in Kauffman (all the Sox games against KC have been there so far). I'm sure there haven't been many Royals who had 7 in Kauffman before May.

In completely unrelated news I'm starting to think the Royals have pitching problems.

Found this article which says it's Gehrig's 14 v. Cleveland in 1936:

http://www.highheatstats.com/2014/01/most-homers-in-a-season-vs-one-opposing-team/

For someone to top Gehrig in the post-expansion era would be amazing.

edit: Gehrig had 110 PA vs. Cleveland that year. In '98, Sosa hit 12 against the Brewers in 54 PA.

Oh I didn't think about all the extra PAs before expansion that makes sense. Thanks for looking that up, I honestly was curious.

7's halfway to 14 though! Although slugging near 2.000 will probably be a little difficult to keep up.
