It is ofc not eaten on its own, but with a little hardbread, boiled potato, sourcream, and onions (and some capers possibly?). It fits in well with those and some people love it to bits, but I don't think it's because of the taste. It's more the tradition and ceremony of the thing. Also it's funny to terrorize foreigners with. Most of our food is a goldmine for that, and that is the real mystery.
