Well, now you could do something like Devoted/Sharpshooter and get a bunch of passive penetration just from the subclass bonuses. Penetrating Strike would be available at character level 7 for some on demand bonus penetration, too.

Do I get to reclass my PoE1 character on import to 2? I'm watching cohh's playthrough and it looks so much better than poe1 it's ridiculous.

Does any of your loot from POE1 get imported into 2?

And for the second question, the blade of the endless path and the other unique sword you find in Caed Nua's hall are fragments you have to piece together again.

man what

You get to totally remake your character.

I assume no loot gets carried over because that would make no sense from a gameplay perspective. Assume all your stuff got charitably donated or sold off to start the game.

My one playthrough was with a wizard. I had a core party of Eder, Pallegina and Aloth, and switched out the others as I saw fit. I'll probably do the same in Deadfire, and I don't want to double up on wizards again. So I will definitely reroll, but I'm currently torn between monk or priest.

Plot-wise? Not really. But you are missing out on by far the best content PoE1 has to offer.

For Shifter Druid at least, multiclassing really does seem like a no brainer. The final tier of Wildstrike is nice, but does it at all compare to layering on Monk/Barbarian/Rogue abilities to spiritshift? Ehhhhh no.

Fury though, I would have a hard time giving up Great Maelstrom for anything.

Monk has the best Power level 9 abilities in the entire game, multiclassing that class seems like an abomination.

100% pen 100% accuracy on empower, AND 500% crit damage on 1 ability what the actual. None of the synergies with Ranger/Rogue/Barbarian/Fighter are worth giving that up. And you get to flurry earlier to boot with single class.

There are no once per encounter abilities I thought? You have your power pool, which is dictated by your power level, that fuels all of your abilities, and you have your empowers which are 4-5 at max level and are per rest.

Players can also use an Ability called "Empower" that will allow them to increase the effectiveness of an Ability or regain half of their max Power Source Points. This can only be used once per encounter per character and replenishes upon Resting.

Might be outdated now but this is how I thought it always worked. Someone also mentioned it in relation to that pet that gives extra empower not being good at all because it just gives you one more per rest.

Empower just raises the power level of the ability you're using, iirc. Also you get a few empowers per rest, I believe.

So that level 9 Monk ability is 40-80 damage, and has +500% crit damage. I think the crit bonus was dropped to 30%, so that's 530% bonus on a crit for total of 252-504 damage, average 378.

If you take the passive level 9 Monk ability that gives +100 accuracy and pen when you empower it, you're basically guaranteed to over-penetrate and crit. Over-penetrating is I think another 30% boost? So you potentially have a 400 damage, up to 600+ damage with Might and other bonuses, nuke to use a few times per rest.

Seems pretty good.

Inner Death does look borderline broken, but I think Barbarian possibly beats them out in terms of shear practicality. With the Blood Lust/Thirst/Fury trio the last of which comes at PL9, every time you kill something you get a) 20% increase in action speed for 10 seconds b) no recovery for 10 seconds and c) +1 Rage per kill. And presumably those times are modified by Int...

Basically, what I’m saying is unless they’ve been fixed, don’t play a Mage Slayer barbarian, because their flat 50% reduction in the length of beneficial effects ruins all their best abilities.

e: Also, strong thread title.

I think I'm gonna make a Beguiler Cipher that relies on just turning the entire enemy team against each other. The hard part is figuring out what multiclass would benefit from that.

Any idea which classes aren't covered by your companions? Playing PoE 1 as a Paladin made Bird Queen Pallegina surplus to requirements and I'd rather avoid that in the sequel.

Also, is VPN early unlocking still a thing on Steam? If so which country are we best to use for this dumb game.

I haven't been watching streams so I don't get spoiled, has any of it showed how important power level is to the monk's unarmed damage? I wanna just punch all enemies in their dumb faces for pillars 2 and am trying to decide between monk, monk/devoted fighter and monk/barbarian

CottonWolf

Single class monks get some really good abilties at PL8 and 9 and unarmed damage does scale well with power level (plus at max level single classed characters can take Prestige which gives them PL+1 which'll push it even higher). That said, both devoteds (at least in the beta, all devoteds got fist specialised) and barbarians (especially berserkers) are good multiclass choices. Personally I'd go with a barbarian for Frenzy and its upgrades (plus you can take the 0 recovery for 10 seconds on kill ability at max level as a multiclassed barbarian), but fighter will let you be basically unkillable and give consistent damage with no real spikes. They're all good options.

Okay, the only way to decide which of my many many many PoE 1 characters I'm going to bring into 2 is to just post in the thread and have you people tell me what to do so I don't have to make decisions at all. Should I start with:

- Wood Elf Ranger
- Pale Elf Rogue
- Hearth Orlan Cipher
- Death Godlike Paladin
- Fire Godlike Monk

I intend to basically remake them and keep their primary class and then multiclassing them into whatever seems good.
