OWE has a chance to be a very big deal. All of the Chinese students come from a Shaolin Training school and there is serious money behind it. Their first show did incredibly well streaming in China also.

T-Hawk, El Lindaman, & Takehiro Yamamura will be Dragon Gate Inc. roster members and will also be based out of Shanghai with the OWE promotion as a priority While this will decrease their appearances in Japan, we hope fans will continue to support their efforts while they undertake this new challenge.

this what has been talked about for a few weeks. i talked about it on otvg last month. basically this is defining the dg relationship with owe (the cima led side). basically they are sibling companies now. okamura was pretty sick and kido's been his number two since the toryumon split. t-hawk needed to get away from dg badly, the crowds are beyond apathetic towards him. lindaman needed an excursion, and yamamura is still probably 6 months to a year away from returning and he's basically a son to cima. they may show up back in dg time to time (like kobe world level stuff). dg-china will be doing a lot more international stuff and touring (they're doing australia and las vegas over the next few months).

:darksouls:
with the pac news, i feel like it's time to ask that's been bugging me for a while: does anyone here actually regularly watch any non-new japan japanese wrestling, and if so, how? this thread is like 12 years old but has had about 20 posts in the six months, so i am assuming the answer is no

my twitter seems to include exactly two people who regularly watch DDT and TJP, and i guess they use the official streaming service for that. that'd be tempting if ddt wasn't completely impenetrable. like, it's not the overall storylines that are impossible, it's the moment to moment of the thing, and nothing short of live captions are gonna help with that

i know no one who keeps up with dragon gate, especially now that they have that weird OwE splinter that took a bunch of their roster. i guess they also have a streaming service but it sucks? but it seems like dragon gate is fun and flippy and i think i'd like the style, and i have to imagine the unit-based storylines makes it relatively easy to follow, so why is it that no one is watching it?

there's also all japan, which has exciting meme stars in zeus and the bodyguard, and again their own streaming service, but also, again, i know no one who regularly watches it

oh, and stardom, which seems good and the one id be most likely to actually subscribe to.

so what do y'all watch, if anything? is there a calendar of events, or do you just pick up whatever shows up in weird private google drive folders? i can't imagine anyone is spending like $50 a month on all these subscriptions

PURE FUCKING AINOGEDDON
I watch mostly DDT, TJPW and occasionally Basara (my DDT Universe subscription is the least-negotiable part of my monthly leisure budget). I'll admit I may be biased because my Japanese is good, but I feel like DDT and TJPW are fairly accessible, all things considered - but only if you do the "homework" of keeping up with @ddtpro_eng and Dramatic DDT, and I can understand not wanting to bother with all that just to watch some wrestling. For the smaller DDT subpromotions you're out of luck, though. DDT and TJPW seem to have relatively large, or at least active, English-speaking followings on Twitter nowadays.

Stardom is good. I'm really behind on it and I haven't been too thrilled with a lot of weird decisions they've made this year (though pulling the trigger on red belt Kagetsu makes up for a lot of it), but it's still solid. Their subtitles are so-so, but they exist, which is the important thing.

I also watch Big Japan, though mostly only really keep up with the deathmatch division, and Freedoms. For Freedoms I only really get what gets put up on puroresudream, since I haven't taken the time to figure out their service yet - I think it's mobile-only, for some reason? I want to check out the local Dotonbori Pro soon, but I don't know if there's any way to see that other than going to the shows.

NJPW used to be the main thing I watched but I don't watch it much at all lately. For the most part I can let Twitter and friends keep up with it for me and just drop in when something sounds really up my alley. I've realized I feel more invested in the smaller promotions that're easier and cheaper to attend live, which I think is a big part of me dropping off on NJPW this year.

I had a sub till I canceled it in June. The wrestling is always good, they have just had a very unsatisfying year creatively. Trying to put over the limping heel unit strong until two thirds of the reason they were created fucks off to Shanghai. Natural Vibes is created in May to huge positive buzz and then proceeds to do nothing but hold the trios title. Mochizuki's title reign built around defending against the next young stars ending in a mediocre heatless match with Masato Yoshino getting his fourth reign. Inexplicable annual Cyber Kong push in TYOOL 2018. Trying to put over the limping heel unit by adding former Tensai's handler KAZMA Sakamoto. Stuff like that. The streaming service is quite good aside from the bizarre gap between a week after a show and a month after a show when the shows aren't available, but it wasn't worth paying more than NJPW money for when I can't get excited for people in the company anymore.

I keep up with DDT, TJPW, AJPW and Stardom pretty closely and follow along with what Hisame tweets about NOAH and then watch any shows that sound cool. I also have a WAVE Network subscription that I use sometimes.

I share all my wrestling subscriptions (and Netflix) with a friend cos they don't check that.

My favourite thing about following Hisame is just seeing what is the latest way that RATEL's managed to look exceedingly sleazy. Especially YO-HEY and Hayata. Because it's at least 50% a RATEL's fan account & 50% general NOAH news. They even looked sleazy feeding a deer, it's great.
