I think that's a BMP-1 turret, so that's a 75mm semi-automatic gun. They're probably trying to use it like 18th century artillery, adjusting fire after each shot and firing without actually aiming.

The 2A28 gun on the BMP-1 is goofy as hell, the whole gun weighs like 250lb and it uses a little powder charge to spit out a 73mm rocket that is basically a glorified RPG-7 HEAT round. I'd imagine a Hilux could suck up the recoil pretty easily. The inert training rounds were super common on surplus dealers for a while but always cost more than I am willing to spend on something silly like a pretend communist rocket.

Assad decided that Damascus was the one place he wasn't giving up, so anyone in the capital who wanted to rebel either left or got thrown in a torture prison forever. That's part of the reason the strikes last week were so shocking. They were blowing up an area of the country that had mostly remained un-blown up and don't seem to have done much to aid the war effort except terrify and possibly kill civilians.
