What's crazier to me than people who haven't been outed is the people who HAVE been REPEATEDLY outed and no one gives a gently caress. Like I know people like to talk about Chris Rock as like, one of the only people who stood up to Roman Polanski, but then i listened to a long interview between Chris Rock & Marc Maron, and Rock spends like 10 minutes talking about having dinner with Woody Allen and his wife like Woody Allen is the funniest most comedic genius of all time...

The Lucas/Spielberg thing has always struck me as kind of silly because it's like ten lines of conversation from ninety pages of semicoherent spitballing and Lucas describes it using phrases like "it's a real strange relationship" and "it's a very bizarre thing".

This dude seemed like he was actually on track to hold Weinstein accountable, and get proper reparations for his victims. Turns out he's just another scumbag abuser. My heart goes out to the women who had hung their hopes on him delivering justice on their behalf.

Chris Brown is amazing because no matter where you look in his life, there's a terrible decision. Aside from being genuinely reprehensible, he's also a moron in really small ways. I wrote some clickbaity piece of poo poo article about 'worst celebrity cars' and half the ones I found were him. All the same lamborghini, all painted in a series of terrible paint jobs.

The answer is he continued being prolific and putting out popular work despite all that. Guy must have an insane work ethic. If you look at any celebrity male embroiled in scandal who continues to be successful it is because they clearly make something people like, and a lot of it. I’m no breezy apologist but look at his YouTube you’ll see him basically talking about being a womanizing douchebag while showcasing some of the greatest dancing and choreography 2018 has to offer. I don’t get it (his costuming choices especially) but Guy is good at doing the thing he does. And I think if you look at any male embroiled in scandal like this you will find the ones who get a “pass” are extremely prolific and the ones who don’t fade away when they stop doing work. This is also why Kanye gets away with being Kanye - he makes good music for some reason, almost despite everything else he does, and gets a pass for it.

The one thing you don’t get a pass for is making lovely music, doing lovely work, though. This only applies when the subject is already a brilliant performer. If you’re a lovely person who makes lovely work nobody wants to gently caress with you.

Counterpoint: Ted Nugent was able to do it via his equally lovely politics, and that dude released songs about loving thirteen year-olds. He sits on the board of one of the most powerful conservative lobbying orgs in the US.
