Still, not sure how to solve the "why not stab Ulfric in the face" problem the lack of essential tags would do in a satisfying way.

If I remember correctly, New Vegas handled this by not making the faction leaders the combat "bosses", and only introducing those bosses when you have to fight them.

This is what I meant by satisfying. It would be a shame if you literally couldn't meet Ulfric until the final fight.

Also I never liked Lanius being Frank Horrigan 2.0

The problem with the Forsworn stuff is that they didn't have enough time to do what they had in mind. It was nowhere as ill conceived as the Thieves Guild story.

Yeah that's a big part of why I'd like to see him go into it with detail. The Forsworn stuff didn't really land for me but I don't remember it being a major catastrophe like the TG was.

Whenever I feel like putting together a Skyrim mod package or getting OpenMW up and running, it usually means that I just want to play New Vegas again.

Actually committed to playing Skyrim, though, and am having a good time Living Another Life in the Dark Brotherhood. It's like the Thieves Guild, except you steal lives.

Yeah, the forsworn are the Stormcloaks stormcloaks.

I always wanted to make a quest chain after Destroy the Dark Brotherhood where you carried out Commander Maro's increasingly insane perogatives to wipe out everyone in Skyrim who could threaten the Emperor, eventually killing every named NPC in skyrim.

I see the Forsworn themselves as being something akin to ISIS; that is, they were founded on a legitimate grievance against imperialism, but they long ago lost the support of the people they purport to represent, and their religion is a heresy that most Reachmen wouldn't recognize.

So uh in short we should kill the Forsworn and kill the Reachmen and kill the Jarl and liberate the silver mines in the name of the proletariat.

also here's a stupid take
---------------------------->
Am I the only one curious about the status of High Rock as of Skyrim? It's odd that we hear so little about it considering the fact that with Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and Hammerfell all hosed up it's probably the most stable and powerful bastion of human power in Tamriel as of Elder Scrolls V, especially in light of the Warp in the West bringing unprecedented unity and the presence of the Adamantine Tower, which is probably the most powerful of the bunch, undoubtedly drawing Thalmor attention.

The logic of the narrative as we know it now really seems to pointing to Daggerfall 2 as the next Elder Scrolls game, but I can't say that with any confidence because most of what we know about 4th era High Rock is a giant question mark.

Legends posits that High Rock is still a major part of the Empire, and has distilled to five major kingdoms. One kingdom, Wayrest, was recently involved in a Dark Brotherhood plot and was sacked by corsairs.

Also, as for Forsworn sympathies, the Reachmen were once in charge of the entire Empire via the Longhouse Emperors. They turned out to be a bunch of savage, Daedra worshipping, dark magic using assholes and nobody likes them.

The Reachmen in Skyrim were pretty chill until Ulfric came and butchered literal children in Markarth. Life in Markarth was apparently really sweet under their rule.

Correction, they were once in charge of a rump state that called itself the Empire.

After the Akaviri Potentates got murdered, the Provinces seceded off into their own nations in the chaos. Cyrodiil basically collapsed into civil war and whoever had the biggest army crowned themselves Emperor- a revolving door of petty Emperors. In ESO this state was still called The Empire. Time and time again it would be conquered by an outside or inside force and get a whole new Empire. One of those groups was the Longhouse Emperors who were daedra-worshipping assholes as you say. They got beaten up by Varen Aquilarios, who re-established a more Cyrodiilic style of rule.

After Varen did what he did- ESO spoilers made a deal with Mannimarco who tricked him that it would be possible to use the Amulet of Kings (which Varen couldn't wear) to try and become Dragonborn (because only a Dragonborn can REALLY be Emperor in any meaningful way) and it all backfired horribly and put Mannimarco's puppet Clivia Tharn in charge and right back to the Daedra worship, not to mention the three Alliances of ESO constantly invading and Cyrodiil, probably (because we haven't seen it yet) ended any legitimacy this rump state had and by the time Tiber Septim came around a few hundred years later Cyrodiil was mostly balkanized.

In the case of the Dragonborn it's a bit unique because their relation to Akatosh seems to imply that Big AKA gets to supersede any other claims on their soul.

With everyone else, I think it's just that no regular people ever end up in the position of promising their soul to more than one entity. Being in such a position even once seems to be a pretty uncommon event, it takes a Dragonborn or Nerevarine or the like to get into such a position more than once.

Or TES VI will be about the efforts of a dozen different gods to gain control of the Dohvakiin's soul and you having to deal with the plots, machinations, and wars that result. :iia:

Elder Scrolls Online has shown us that any unique environment can be boiled down to its most pedantic roots. Valenwood will become Falkreath but with treehouses, Elsweyr and Bangkorai will become Breath of the Wild clones. Looking forward to ESO Summerset being a reskin of Cyrodiil in pastels.
