I'm cool with any of the 4 teams winning. Only slightly less cool with the Bolts winning, since they already have a cup.

tampa seems bland to me compared to the knights and jets but they're also pretty inoffensive so i guess i'd rank them 1. knights 2. jets 3. bolts 4. caps. i don't like the caps much but other than that i don't really have super strong feelings about any one over the other so uh go good hockey i guess??

Yeah, a decade of dumping on the Hurricanes and then the Caps for being the best team in the weakest conference, and a few years after it's dissolved it fields 3 conference finals teams and a 4th GMed by a guy that spent nearly all his career there. I'm still torn by the realignment re: Metro and Atlantic, but the SE is finally resurgent!

RIP the Preds. You should've won last year but were robbed, then this year you shot yourself in the foot 500 times then gave up. Anyway, here's my Preds story I promised even though they're no longer relevant to this thread: The restaurant I work in has a partnership with the team and is open late, so some of the players come in a lot after games, at least in the regular season. Usually it's around 6-8 of them, and occasionally the whole team. I think we're on a list of recommended restaurants they give to the visiting teams, too, because we'll see them come in the night before games fairly often. Anyway, back in January I was closing the night of the Preds - Panthers game, which the Preds ended up winning. Around 11, after all the servers had left except me and one other, the entirety of both teams came in (we sat them side by side which I thought was funny). We got our asses kicked for a little while because 30 hungry hockey players can be pretty demanding. About halfway through the meal, PK showed up and ordered a few drinks. He didn't eat and, after about half an hour, pulled me aside and said he wanted to take care of the whole bill. He told me it was Josi's birthday and asked me to bring him a dessert, then told me to tell them 'Denzel Washington took care of it' when they asked about the bill. I agreed, thinking this was some inside joke. At the end of the meal, Roman asked for the bill. Instead I brought him a dessert with some candles and told him happy birthday. I was met with a few confused looks. After they had dessert, he asked about the bill again, and I told him not to worry, Denzel Washington had taken care of it. They responded with 30 seconds of silent, awkward staring. I didn't know what to say so I just got more and more mortified as the silence grew, thinking they thought I was horribly racist or something. After what felt like an eternity, Josi finally got it and said "did Subby tell you to say that..?" I said yes, and was flooded with relief when everyone laughed. After everyone left I checked wikipedia; Roman Josi's birthday is in June. Another time PK came in with his parents and his mom scolded him for ordering ice cream because he was supposed to be on a diet.

i need to decide what team to hate now vegas is objectively the worst city in the western hemisphere but i like the idea of an expansion team in nevada winning something before a canadian team does winnipeg is paying the stupid fat gently caress but making fun of that city seems like picking on a retard i'm not even sure where tampa is who is the other team involved?

Preds played so bad it'd embarrass a peewee team. I'd like to think this might be a learning experience for them, but this is professional hockey, so who knows? I would like Vegas to win, I think the Bolts are statistically likely to win, and it's 2018, so congratulations to the Washington Capitals on their impending victory.

My order of preference is: Capitals - I want OV to win a Cup so bad, and also I live here and it would be nice to get to take a day off of work if they win to go to a parade and get drunk Knights - Expansion team winning in year 1 would be pretty funny and piss off a lot of people Lightning - I don't really have any feelings for or against this team, they just sort of exist. Jets - gently caress Canadian teams and their fans

I feel like Tampa winning would be best for my quality of life, but both Vegas and Winnipeg winning would be delightful in different ways. Fleury stonewalling the Caps is probably the funniest possible outcome from the remaining teams. (I think that Winnipeg beating Toronto was the funniest outcome possible based on the playoff teams to begin with.)

I based my playoff predictions on the fact that I erroneously thought that teams who haven't had big playoff runs before would have trouble having them now. The Jets and Knights proved me wrong.

Jamwad Hilder posted:gently caress Canadian teams and their fans What is this dumb loving poo poo. gently caress your rear end and eat mine afterward. 1. Jets. 2. Caps 3. Bolts 4. Knights Why the gently caress would you pull Rinne after 2 goals, even if they were soft - it's not hard to come back after that. That decision basically hosed the Preds to lose.

I feel like Tampa has most villain status just by having won a cup. Washington has Wilson but everyone wants to see ovi win one. Pretty good final four all things considered.

NBC Sports says this is the first time in 10 years a team other than LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh, or Boston will win the Cup, so go any of these teams. But, for fun: 1) Tampa. They're my #1 safety team. 2) Vegas. I probably would've hated them and their sudden success had I not gone to their first home preseason game and gotten a free game day poster of Gerard Gallant which is 4 feet away from me on the side of a cabinet in my office. Then I bought a jersey and t-shirt, all of which made them endearing to me. 3) Washington. They finally toppled Pittsburgh. Let's go. 4) Winnipeg. No real attachment here but their jerseys are cool. Full disclosure, the rankings are this close: ...where fourth place is like a fraction of a second back of the winner.

Washington's ineptitude has real value, and that value is irreplaceably gone if they ever actually win. Also I have a friend who is a super-irritating Caps fan, one of those people who became a lifelong fan in 2009, and I'd rather not have to deal with the blowback from the Caps winning. But really, it's that first point that's important.
