Baywatch was cancelled by NBC, but the shows producers didn’t want to give up on it so they went the first-run syndication route for subsequent seasons instead.

Is Gervais that much of an rear end in a top hat to fantasise about being able to treat everyone like poo poo or is it something people in general do? (This premise seems to have been done to death).

Scrubs was cancelled and brought back by the same network, Buffy was never officially cancelled, American Dad was cancelled by a network and brought back on a cable channel (see also: Futurama, Friday Night Lights, Southland, etc).

I was specifically thinking of shows cancelled by one network, then brought back on a different network, since that’s pretty uncommon (though it makes total sense in B99’s case, since NBC made the show anyway).

How much longer is Criminal Minds gonna go on for now that most of the original cast is gone?

They're at how many seasons now, 15?

I binged the first 10 or so a few years back and they'd already had a major plot arc for each of the individual team members being targeted and multiple arcs about the whole team being targeted. Where else can they go? Is it one of those shows that old people will continue to watch despite it exhausting every interesting story possibility already?

The original did this too. There was an episode relatively early in its run that tackled violent video games, and Jack McCoy says in one scene that he was up until 3 a.m. playing their Doom analogue and that he can't imagine what it would do to a child.
