Oh man I have thoughts about this game that I will write up after getting coffee. Not my best gameplay by any measure, but just as a FYI we were not intentionally killing high volume posters. I definitely looked back at it night 2 and went “ah poo poo” - there’s some hand wringing to that effect in scumdoc (I’ll post it later today).

Thanks for running Ecco, and thanks everyone for playing!

That went about as bad as it possibly could have for town.

In this case, the idea of the vanilla town masonry becoming a voting bloc was never gonna happen after Moat and IP went after each other D2 and the masonry itself was basically dead after that anyway.

I never saw a final Votefinder post from yesterday but I guess I shouldn't have dropped a vote and left when I did. Would have been better to have never actually voted since when I came back to the game 30 minutes before deadline the hammer had long since already gone.

The cult cop being a red herring twice in a row is frustrating. That said, town simply played poorly for the most part.

Edit: not totally vanilla town but you get my drift anyway

I think the problem with that argument was that TNL was the one who brought your name up first when I was listing people I thought were lurking. I just happened to go "oh yeah him too."

I really enjoyed this game, and it wasn’t because things went so well for scum. It was just architected in a way I was able to enjoy more, and I really appreciate more “normal”/vanillaish game setups personally. I know a lot of people made statements about me being gone/lurking towards the end but that was generally because I actually had stuff going on, not because I was trying to lurk as a strategy. I felt more comfortable coming back to the thread as scum than I ever have this game, which is something I have trouble with sometimes.

Overall good game folks. And I’m sorry TNL for your swift death. We had to kill someone.

Okay so. Day 1 was kind of an exercise in frustration for me, because AA all but scumclaimed right off in our masonry (seriously, go read it) and I had to spend a significant amount of time and energy on damage control from that point onwards. This also informed my watcher choices since I was trying to balance getting information for scum versus getting stuff I could share with Keane.

I botched things pretty badly after N1 where I saw AA, Keane, and Moat all visit Sal because I had to pivot over the course of the game on whether I wanted to hard-bus AA for town/masonry cred or try and push for a moat execution. I should really have tried to pick watch choices that weren't going to catch my own scumteam, or be prepared to go all in on bussing. Eventually we decided we had to kill Keane for safety after the Day 2 execution, or he would have gone for AA.

Like I said this morning, our intention wasn't to kill high volume posters. We killed TNL Night 1 because he hinted at knowing more about cop sanities - thus we surmised he might be another hidden cop. We killed Keane Night 2 to prevent the loss of AA (which in retrospect, I think, made the game less fun for everyone - you can see the debate about this in the scumdoc), and then obviously killed Sal Night 3 because we had to eliminate the cop.

In retrospect I should have stayed on moat instead of wasting time trying to build cred with Keane, so we could have secured his execution on Day 3. My pivot on him was difficult to explain in the absence of results that wouldn't have doomed AA, and I was left without a lot of options in the end.

I lobbied to kill moat instead of keane for a little while N2 b/c I was genuinely scared of a moat that felt vengeful towards us. pod/aa ended up making the correct decision to kill keane but yeah, we were not making our decisions based on who was posting the most.

Oh I forgot to mention - I do stand by my conclusion that moat is a really good player once he stops shitposting and starts casing. Also, Slamburger coming in hot on that last day shook us up pretty good - he called out exactly the right folks. Lastly, AS played the cop claim super duper well - that would have hosed us up if not for managing to end the game today, since she cleared a significant portion of the remaining townies.

The annoying thing about this game is I had most of the setup nailed in my head; I figured scum were spread out among the masonries, I figured they couldn't talk during the day, and I also figured there was one scum left out of a masonry. But in my head it was one scum per masonry, not 2/1/0, and once IP flipped town I figured that meant Moat had to be scum :(
