This extends to all genres of music for me, but lyrics are an expression of the artist. There's stuff you're not going to say in public or around other people because it's not appropriate. I'm not going to just randomly start singing about Satan or catching bodies out in public. I might sing along to the music if I'm alone and I'm really feeling it or the lyrics speak to me. I think it's also okay to self censor if that's what works for you. I know there's white people out there that go "well if they're rapping about it, why can't I???" and that's hosed up. Words have power in them, and context. I'm pretty new to listening to rap and understanding the cultural forces behind it, so forgive me if I say something out of ignorance or misunderstanding.

We go sit in this car, and suddenly my friend's brother talking about how he loves rap, and immortal technique and eminem and gza and whatnot and he throws in this tape and suddenly asks us to freestyle. So yeah, if you're the only black dude/japanese youth around some group of white folks, chances are if they listen to rap you WILL get asked to freestyle. Also it's just funny to me seeing what ICP turned out to be. I remember hearing about them forever ago, before juggalos became a big thing. A couple folks I used to live around were really heavy into them. I have some respect for them because they have a really solid reputation around the MI rap scene (what it is). Also I hear their wrestling promotion is actually one of the few smaller feds that actually pay their workers on time and correctly, so there's that. Also idc faygo is legit and they have like 1 million flavors and that poo poo is cheap as gently caress.
