Anytime someone says "triple-entry accounting" in earnest it's a tell that they don't actually have any idea what double-entry bookkeeping is.

it's simple, you have assets, liabilities, and bitcoins, which are a 3rd class that is both an asset and a liability

Anytime someone says "triple-entry accounting" in earnest it's a tell that they don't actually have any idea what double-entry bookkeeping is. Well you need triple entry accounting for bitcoin. You need a column for debits/credits, one for verifying your bank balance, and one for awaiting confirmation. Then when you get your bank statement you add up the columns and find out which transactions are still verifying so you can get the other party to resubmit at a higher fee, while hopefully adjusting the amount to accommodate the change in coin price. The you can cancel the previous transaction.. Oh wait no you can't. And refunding the coins should they ever get through would cost you more fees. It can't be this stupid, I must be explaining it wrong.

quote:Also affected is Tether, a digital currency traded on cryptoexchanges worldwide that shares a management team with the exchange, including Chief Executive Officer Jan Ludovicus van der Velde. While little public information exists about how Tethers are created, it generally trades for around $1 because each coin is supposed to be backed by $1 of fiat money in a bank. The currency, which started trading in 2015, is described as a stable alternative to Bitcoin’s volatility and can act as a safe haven for crypto investors. way to glaze uncritically over that, bloomberg e: they go into tether more later but that intro paragraph seems very forgiving
