they are parasites that eat the flesh of animals for nourishment and they piss and poo poo inside the animal. the doctor has also tried submerging the dogs in water for like 30 minutes at a time to try to get the mango worms to leave but the worms arent generally smart enough to figure out they should leave so it doesn't work. the most effective technique is just squeezing towards the bottom of the worm so the whole thing comes out in one go. any surgical procedure to get the worms would probably cause more damage than just squeezing them out.

Not really. The mangoworms dig into the skin but once they're out the skin's elasticity closes up the pores pretty quickly. A lot of people who come in to help him use gloves because they feel its gross (and it is) but as long as the doc's hands are clean, there's not much chance of infection. He also treats the dogs with antibiotics and gives them a shot that will kill any parasites he misses.

I've watched this channel a lot, it seems. People come for the mangoworms, stay for the doctor with the weird sense of humour.
