I'd prefer them wafer thin, but onions add a surprisingly good flavor contrast if you are after something savory. Though tbh I would usually at least add some deli turkey as well.

eh suicide is definitely not a super surprise, its just sad, figured he was on the upswing or at least making progress on killing those demons.

Just to clarify for any younglings: that dash of paprika is not seasoning. It adds no flavour. Paprika was only added for colour so a single jar of paprika would last a housewife 5-10 years, and taste like dust the whole time.

I was honestly surprised when I recently learned (from a videogame) that paprika is made from peppers. I assumed it was made from talc and food colouring.

Eggs aren't bad for your heart. Neither is eating cholesterol. You can blame the sugar industry funding research in the 60's for that bullshit.

Also what kind of paprika has this poor person experienced? It should have flavor. I swear. It's tasty!

I've talked to some people who were legitmately amazed that spicy paprika is a thing.

Which is sad, because I've never noticed much flavor from regular paprika. Although part of that might be because most recipes that use it only have you using a tiny bit for color, as you said.

Old paprika bought during the Clinton administration and only used to dust some coloring onto deviled eggs is sad.

Fresh paprika poured into Hungarian goulash is delicious.

I could have used a more AFP picture, but this is the best Betty Crocker could do with a professional photographer. It's red meat glop and I love it.

Our deli has a cooked turkey loaf that has just a sprinkle of paprika on the top of it. For aesthetics, I guess.

If you aren't turning your food red in the seasoning phase, you aren't using paprika right.

Paprika is not entirely unlike red sugar. Optionally it's a bit spicy or smokey. But it's for adding bell pepper flavor when you want more bell pepper flavor than will fit with all the red bell pepper baggage like fiber and water.

Yes, it probably should have flavour. But I guarantee most of the people making Chicken Mayonnaise had old flavourless paprika. The loving 70s man.

Paprika sprinkled on something after the fact makes no sense to me. Tablespoons of smoked paprika frying or roasting in oil is where it really comes alive.

Exactly this. I was in my twenties before I discovered that paprika had a purpose other than adding a bit of color to things.

when I bring deviled eggs to potlucks in my rural town, people will refuse to eat them if there's paprika on them because they're too spicy. I have to bring some topped with black pepper instead.

I am in a family of picky eaters and i'm pretty sure it's just a thing where they'll like it if you don't tell them what is in it. Obviously this doesn't apply to things that can potentially cause allergic reactions, but like if you sneak some paprika or hotsauce or god forbid pepper into something and don't tell the picky eater it's in there, i would bet a lot of money that at least 9 times out of 10 they'd like the better-seasoned version more than their standard "microwaved from frozen no seasoning except the salt they add after it's cooked" version.
